Am I correct in evaluating McCartin vs Wright thus:

McCartin:
- Peak: 9/10
- Probability of hitting peak: 60%
- Probability of being a "decent" forward: 75%

Wright:
- Peak: 10/10 (due to x-factor of height)
- Probability of hitting peak: 30-40% (or at least a significantly lower chance than McCartin)
- Probability of being a "decent" forward: 60%

So Wright with a higher ceiling, but McCartin more likely to make it?

Whoever we don't pick, will go on and dominate the competition for the next 10 years!

I'm more comfortable with McCartin I think. That means having 2 gun key forwards. Wright could be anything. A little more risky. I don't think we are in a position to take risks. Plus, we can always go and grab a quality ruckman in a few years. Let someone else develop them.

In terms of ruckman. I still have faith in Gawn. He's only 22 (23 at the end of December) and if you look at the dominate rucks in the league at the moment, all are 25-31. If he and Jamar can stay healthy for next season, they could develop a nice partnership and fast track Gawn to being a ruckman in AA contention by the time Goodwin takes over.

Would think he'd mostly sit in the goal square. Occasionally lead up to the 50 and deliver in.

Paul Roos is a fan of the deep forward close to goal as he had with Barry Hall , and then the roaming CHF's

Would think the MFC has to take McCartin now

While we're on the topic of kicking lots of goals, Buddy is a huge chance to get to 1000. Currently on 659, will only be 28 when the next season starts. Probably has 3-4 years left at his peak with an outstanding midfield servicing him.

1000 in the modern era would be freakish

I would think it would put him in the best handful of goal kickers of all time

How ****ing good is this though? Newton was fairly hot property, and it looks like he'll choose us. This after we grabbed McCartney and Frost too. Bodes well for us being able to nab Dangerfield next year.

..............He's a kid who is after opportunity, let's not pretend we are getting Ablett.

We don't even know if he can nominate only for the PSD.

It's still a fairly big deal. When there are 6 or 7 clubs in the mix I never expect us to be the ones that are successful, but it's happening more and more.

Jones, Viney, Tyson, Michie, Newton, Riley, Toumpas, Stretch (and Brayshaw) might not be a superstar midfield group, but at the very least they're mostly tough, big bodies.

Do we really need all of Michie, Riley and McKenzie?

Lose a couple.
Would much rather use 40 and 53 on McDonald/Cunico/Daniel than keep McKenzie and Evans. Doesn't seem like they want to want to go though - either that or we want to keep them.

Don't know much about Ben Newton to be honest but avg nearly 11 touches in his 4 AFL games & 25 touches at SANFL level. Described as a classy left footer.

Port offered him a 2yr contract from memory & he turned it down for a chance at a club that will present more opportunities.

If we want him we can sign him as a delisted FA can't we? If that's right we take our 4 ND picks & forget about the PSD
