He only played a quarter on the weekend. Diddums!

Might want to dial it in a bit - this is one of our players you're talking about. If it was up to him I have no doubt he'd be playing himself full time.

If you understood how AFL clubs work, they monitor a whole host of information about players and use them to identify when players need rests (along with other details). Robertson would've been flagged up by the system as needing a break, whether for fatigue or muscle soreness or whatever raised the flag.

I take this DT thing very seriously, is all.

Have Zorko and Rockliff in my team. Tell me Rockliff's omission and Zorko's subbing were nothing long-term and they will be back after the bye.
A two week gastro layoff would be a hell of a thing. They'll be back after the bye.

Thanks. Getting rid of players who will only have a one-week absence is one of my pet hates.

Just on this, as a bit of a newcomer to fantasy footy, I've decided that the best approach to the byes, particularly in draft leagues, is to pick one of the rounds and load as many players into your team who are away that round as you can.

That way the most likely the result is you come through with a 2-1 record, which is a lot better than running the risk of going 0-3 if you try to win every game.

Is that old news?

Hanley a 100% now and an astute choice after the bye? Doing more lifting in the midfield this year?

let me know fellas.

Playing more so from HB than the midfield like last year, not that that is a bad thing for fantasy purposes.

Good luck for the game. No injuries for either team & a good contest.

Just a quick question: I have Paparone in my fantasy team. He had 2 really good weeks (90+) but a bit of a downer v North. Do you reckon that's due to the team being wrecked by gastro or the 90 scores were just a once-off?

Thanks.

This is probably the best thread for this kind of post, for future reference.

In my opinion, he'll have a few more of those 90+ games when the match is fairly open and he can find the space to make use of his hard running.

But he'll have more of the ~50pt games when the opposition do a better job of shutting down the space and we're struggling to retain the ball.

So probably not a wise investment.

He's young - that's about it I'd say.

He was a good cover during the byes though.

I've somehow still got Moloney in one of my teams.

.....he's never gonna play again is he.

A back injury that requires epidural injections to maintain...?

Probably not for quite a while.

Woah, missed that. Not on any injury list. Thanks dlanod :thumbsu:

.....ps - not in any SCE related team don't worry! Just on my bench in a little UF comp.

There'd been rumours around our board around a niggle for quite some time, but the article confirming it and what it was only came out a day or two ago.

Can somebody tell me more about Zac O'Brien?

I am looking for a cash cow in AFL Fantasy, so the important things are job security and not being the sub too often. His scoring potential looks good with 58 from 2 1/2 quarters.

Mature aged. Good on the weekend. Probably borderline best 22 still, so definitely a sub/rotation out risk, but if he puts together a few games like he did on the weekend he should keep his spot. Definitely had more poise than you'd expect from a debutant, but I'd still wait a week if you can to see if he backs it up.

dlanod what are your views on Claye Beams? Thought he would be a lock for a downgrade in SC after he had played two games but now I'm not so sure.
Is he best 22 and from what you have seen is he likely to improve? I know he's had a horrid run with injuries but I thought he would do better on his return to the team. Cheers.

Best 22, at least on potential, but will come back slow from his injury as we've seen. Should improve, but it could take a while.

Hi Lions fans,

Currently tossing up between Jaensch and Hanley. I like Hanley but I'm concerned that injury has affected his scoring ability this year.

I note Hanley missed Rounds 5 and 7 with a back-related hamstring.

A feel like Hanley is a high-risk, high-reward pick. However I have been impressed with Jaensch's consistency.

In your opinion is there a likely payoff in picking Hanley, or will it end in tears?
