Hine has already passed up the opportunity to select Stewart as a father/son pick. What makes you think he would go back on that decision now & trade for him? Not having a crack at you. Just curious. I don't see Hine going down that road. He would basically be admitting he screwed up.
I'm not sure its anything like that. If hes the right player now, theyd go for him. I kind of fell off my chairwhen GWS took him in the 20's in that draft.

During the champs, a typical James Stewart game seemed to be about 8 possies, a couple marks, one or no goals. He was tall, but looked like his weight would double if it rained. He didnt have the body or game for a KPF role, but he didnt get anywhere near enough or use it well enough for a flank.

Fast forward, and hes been on the GWS list and played a cuple games...which have sort of been along the same lines from what Ive seen. So Im not exactly seeing the massive untapped upside that we are missing here. Yes hes young, and tall. Im just not seeing that there are reasons to say he is going to be much more than what we are seeing, notwithstanding the prevous. Would love if someone can tell me otherwise.

He may be one who could be reinvented as a third tall defender, maybe?

I think he is nearing on 100kgs now so he has the body to play key position

I'd still prefer Cam McCarthy over Stewart.
He can play up forward and down back.
So can stewart, 198cm 88kg with another 10 -15kg to put on. Moves so well for his height.

I was a fan of cam mcarthy last year to, just think it may be easier to get stewart. He and moore at either end of the ground for next 10 years plus they can play at both ends.

He may be, but why chase the someone when there is another player better than him.
He hasn't been given a game yet either so he may be easier to pry from the Giants than you think.
I seriously doubt that Stewart has the marking capabilities of McCarthy.
He also has a huge vertical leap and great defensive pressure.
The guy has all the makings of a player similar to Nat Fyfe.

Kristian Jaksch now reportedly has told the club he wants out too. Apparently.

If true, he's the guy I want most out of anyone we've been linked to so far, even Frawley.

From my days at the Oakleigh Chargers, I got to watch him first hand grow into one of the most important players in the TAC Cup and saw him constantly play key roles up forward and down back. Would be a great acquisition and could be groomed into a seriously good key position player with the right development people and support around him, along with opportunity at senior level.

Unfortunately for KJ, he's down the pecking order when it comes to GWS. Another Oakleigh boy I wouldn't mind sussing out is Adam Tomlinson, but Jaksch seems a more viable possibility.

I reckon he be going to the Blues.

I highly doubt Tomlinson would come home as he is Best 22 at the Giants

Goldy to Port for 1.2m, yeah you can have him.

COLLINGWOOD premiership player Tyson Goldsack could be playing his last game for the Magpies, against Hawthorn tonight at the MCG.

The Australian believes Goldsack’s management is sitting on a three-year offer for their client from Port Adelaide worth in the vicinity of $1.2 million.

The versatile 27-year-old is an unrestricted free agent and neither Collingwood not his agent Anthony McConville have been able to negotiate a satisfactory deal beyond 2014.

Contracts talks have stalled since the end of June.
What would the compo be, 2nd round pick?

The story refers to Collingwood having salary cap pressure. How the hell could we have salary cap pressure when we've just lost about 8 senior players in the last two years alone? The club must be foxing on this, there's no way known that they would be close to their salary cap now.

Port might be overpaying him due to the way they struggled when their two KPD's went down this year. Not sure I'd give him 400k a year, but good luck to him if that is what he is getting.

I think you might be surprised how much the quintet of Pendles/Beams/Swan/Cloke/Reid are on. All of whom have been agressively courted in the last years as contracts came up for renewal. We didnt lose anyone to GC or GWS, but we paid a price for that which is now coming home to roost.

It is looking likely higher than expected turnover at the end of the season:

Delist/Retire
5. Maxwell (Already retired)
9. Clarke (Almost certainly to be delisted)
12. Ball (Retired at end of season)
21. Lynch (Retired at end of season)
25. Hudson (Retired)
38. Yagmoor (On the rookie list, but a likely delisting. Been at the club 3 season and hasn't broken through for a senior game in the past 2 seasons)
48. Mooney (Irish project player, was worth a shot for 3 seasons but hasn't come off. The arrival of Mason Cox takes his Cat B rookie place).

Borderline Departure
6. Goldsack (Looking likely to leave as a free agent, given Port's offer)
27. Armstrong (Spent most of the year in the VFL. Could be like Russell and only get one season)
28. Sinclair (Injuries killed his season and given it has been a problem in the past, the club may decide to cut it losses. Wouldn't have much currency to be considered 'Trade Bait')
31. Ramsay (Spent 2 years on the list and hasn't been impressive in VFL. May be delisted and recruited again as a rookie)
33. Karnezis (Hasn't been given a chance. But given the club recruited him knowing he was injured, you would think he gets another year as a minimum).
37. Martin (From some reason, Buckley does not rate him. I can see him actually wanting to explore other opportunities elsewhere).
44. Gault (in my opinion, he has shown nothing in 3 seasons. But given they have picked him to play this week ahead of Lynch , I shutter to think that Collingwood wants to give him a 4th year).

Trade Bait
1. Fasolo (Has flirted with a position change in defence but it hasn't quite worked out. Hasn't done much when put up forward too).
24. Thomas (Hasn't played as much senior footy as he probably should of. I think he probably has to stay now as depth given Ball's retirement)

Other
11. Young (Was given a 3 year contract, so as much as he has become a whipping boy on this forum, he will see out his last year at minimum).
