Stringer doesn't have the engine to play there yet , he is very dustin Martin but I think he is even more dangerous close to goal
Is guess he kicked 20 odd goals this year? He is basically everything Colin Sylvia should have been
Really? He averaged something like 10 touches and 1 goal a game this year - Sylvia did a fair bit better than that.

Either you didn't watch stringer or you over rated Sylvia
Moot point anyway because it was his second season an he played as a HFF

I'm happy to come back to this in a few years and talk about it

Also ThePuppetMaster I thought you of all people would know statistics can prove anything

Colin Sylvia in season 2 - Averaged just over 10 disposals and kicked 8 goals

Jake Stringer between rounds 15 and 23 averaged 13 Disposals and kicked 22 Goals including 5 against Essendon in his second season of AFL
He isnt fit enough to play in the midfield but if you havent watched this kid rag doll defenders then dont comment on him

He is an extremely talented young player who plays predominantly forward at this stage of his career

Jack Macrae averaged 27 touches and will also be a superstar

No.

Stringer will be a gun and a far better player than Sylvia if all goes well, if you remember correctly I wanted him at our first pick in 2012.

That doesn't mean he's currently a good AFL player, or even an average AFL player, based on output - or even better than Sylvia was (who, for all his faults, did have three consecutive years of averaging 20+ disposals and 1 goal a game).

Again, you're completely barking up the wrong tree.

Sylvias best ever goal return was 25 goals, Stringer kicked 22 in 9 weeks

Macrae is a way better player right now but Stringer has so so so much potential it pisses me off to watch Toumpas playing at Casey

I mean no offence here, but starting off a post with 'No.' has to be one of the worst d'head'ish habits people have on here.

What part are you saying 'No.' to?

That you didn't watch Sylvia, that it's a moot point or that you'll revisit this in a few years?

What are we talking about then ?
I said Id preference Stringer which is my personal Opinion and I said he is everything Sylvia should have been
Im making the assumption that unlike our players he will continue to improve on what ive already seen?

Everything he thought I was saying was completely off the mark, it was just a general no - but fair enough.

The Sylvia comparison just doesn't make sense to me because Stringer has achieved nothing more than a Rising Star nomination and Sylvia has three years of pretty solid output as a midfielder and I'd suggest he's also had 3/4 top 5 BnF finishes.

Basically what you were saying was that Sylvia playing worse than what he did in 09, 10, 11 and last year (where he again finished 5th in our BnF) is 'everything he should have been'.

Stringer will be better, but we all thought after 09, 10 and 11 Sylvia would explode too.

Nah Im saying Stringer will eventually become the player that Sylvia should have but never did

Yeah, I agree with that.

Sorry mate - just our boards' habit of devaluing guys who play for us or have played for us is a bit of a sore spot for me.
Yeah mate I wasnt trying to have a go at Sylvia , he played good footy for us but he had the potential to play great for us which is what I see in Stringer

Anyway it should only be hours before they follow Minson in requesting a trade to Melbourne

Okay but in all seriousness I feel like this thread is at risk of being derailed :p

In the instance that we don't need to use our second rounder on Stretch, who is the Vince or Dawes of 2014 that we can use our second rounder on? Seriously hoping it's not Lumumba.

Toumpas has just as much potential as Stringer. He'll be fine, I'm backing him to pull the finger out next year. It's not as though he's a soft player (evidence: ), he just hasn't had the chance to pick up the speed of the game yet due to a lack of consistent AFL match time. Was pretty good against West Coast and Richmond this year. Toumpas has a lot of star attributes, he just needs to lay down the foundations to be able to show them.

Man U, PSG, Victory, Real Madrid,
By the power invested in me by no one would Melbourne take Hannebery and Jones for pick 3 (or even the Frawley compensation pick)?
F'k me dead I wish you were their list manager, I'd trade pick 3 for Hannebery alone, let alone Jones #2 as well

I disagree.

^ That's what I mean. The word 'no' as a statement doesn't really apply when we're debating from afar with no real knowledge of what's going on.
Yeah, I get what you mean mate - I will try to avoid it, except against opposition supporters.
