Why are we getting rid of a player who is the perfect replacement to our aging inside midfield.

Makes no sense to me .... Smacks of josh Kennedy all over again. Bloody hell hawks show him some love and he will repay us with the faith you show him.

Can't believe we are even entertaining a trade for him
Sounds reminiscent of what people were saying when we delisted Schneider

Big difference between getting rid of and other teams targetting. In both Kennedy and Hallahan's cases better and longer deals are on the table.

Would happily have him become Kennedy the 2nd if it means we win 2 flags in the next 5 years

Mitchell, Hodge and Burgoyne are the only mids who will be retiring in the next few years. We have Anderson, Woodward, O'Rourke and who ever we draft this year to take those spots. You can even include Whitecross.
Hallahan will be good but he's likely going to have limited chances to show that at Hawthorn which is what I imagine he's basically been told.

the difference for me is Kennedy leaving broke my heart, Hallahan leaving will not be the best option, but will help us rise back into the draft where theres some talented kids, so i am for it 100%

Some overrating of guys who aren't in our best 22. Let's see what deal is put forward first. But we had a lot of injuries this year and Hallahan didn't impress at afl level. I think he's behind Woodward and Anderson and the club clearly rates o rourke more highly too.

I'd happily keep him as depth but if gc offer a bigger contract and he wants to go, so be it. We can't go offering long term deals to guys that can't hold a spot in our best side.

its always hard to see someone leave the brown and gold....but....he will struggle for game time if our other youngsters come on as expected...obviously orourke was the sealer....so hopefully he steps it up for us next year.....pick 15 would be amazing....!

They've come after him & offering a 3 year deal.
If they want him that bad I feel that pick 15 is a fair result. Other deals ie what Christensen went for are inconsequential.

All those you have named are all coming off serious injuries or have been injured. No guarantees they will come on ... Whilst they are certainly talented they are still very unreliable and are not in the same league as hodge , Mitchell and Burgoyne.

I wonder if we will take a look at picks or if there is a player on the table. Who knows at this stage with Cheney, Grimley, Schoenmakers and Lowden still on the table.

well damn, Hallahan looks like he might nominate GCS?........
I want to leave to get more opportunities......so I'll go to an expansion side that has Swallow, O'Meara, Prestia, Martin, Bennell Rishitelli and that bloke called Ablett in their starting midfield.

Shame to lose him to be honest. good little player I reckon, and was hoping to see him get more chances this year.

We will get pick 29 or 47, my guess is 47. We got 46 for Kennedy who back then was a very similar type player to boxer. I don't want him to go but if we get 29 I can live with it. Getting 46 would really piss me off!

I wouldn't mind if we moved Hallahan on. I can't see him being anything more than a backup next yr anyway. Also we now only give games to players who can play multiple positions which is why we see players like Gunstan starting on a wing when he will then float through the backline etc. Mitch is purely an inside mid. I can't see him spending anytime forward or back. Where as I would prefer giving games to kids like Anderson / O'Rourke who can play both inside/outside mid..off a half back flank and who can also go forward and kick a goal. That is the reason why we won the flag this year as we are very unpredictable and have 15 players rotating through the middle. Gone are the days of having a midfielder who spends 95% of the game on the ball.

And this is why we should be excited about O'Brien and Sicily. Both are good up and coming forwards who can play multiple positions. Gone are the days of one-dimensional forwards.

i reckon we will get 29 for him, but if the Suns are desperate for him and their recruiter seems to be then we might be able to get 15, but in saying that the Hawks are usually easy to deal with and will probably only ask for 29 pick.......
