What are your thoughts on the trade in terms of giving up picks? Happy with 29?
Kind of hard to say. I wish I had seen more of him. He seems a perfect fit from an outsider's perspective. Our young mids took a huge load this year.

I think 29 may be slight overs except he is contracted and Clayton is pretty keen so I think I would be happy with it.

Seeing that he is contracted, and wants to stay, means that the deal will have to be good for us to let him go. GCS other pick is 47? Far too low. I think 29 is a starting point to be honest. Anything less than that and I would walk away.

There is no way that 15 is a suitable pick either, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Exactly. Pick 47 wouldn't cut the mustard at all.

I like Boxer....really do. Sad to see him go IF he goes, but for pick 29 sounds about right really.

He is an above average inside player, not elite by any stretch, yet. Decent skills and decision making. Can get forward and kick the odd goal.

The knock on him is speed and endurance. Problem with Boxer and the modern game is that, after 4-5 preseasons, he still doesn't have the engine to run all day. This is important as he can't get to enough contests to impact a game. No use having an "inside" player who can't get to the contest and influence. Also, he is NOT a prolific ball winner. He doesn't rack up a lot of touches.

So you've got a good ball user who can't get to contests or win the pill. He may develop in time, but to be brutally honest, that's where he sits right now.
nice deflect :)

Went to look at the stats at VFL level, Hallahan averages 23 touches at 65% disposal efficiency from 14 matches. Woodward is at 24 disposals, 68%DE (omitted the game he was injured in and got 2 touches) from 15 games. Other comparisons: Simpkin 5 games, 25disp @70%DE and Ross 15 games, 17 disp @68%DE.

There are no other teams
Strong rumour that Josh Kennedy to the Dees for picks 2 and 3.

Even though the COLA can't trade in anyone they can trade out a player.

Pardon the intrusion.

According to 5AA, the rumour is the list manager asked the Adelaide forwards which of Cheney and Schoenmakers they preferred tto play on and the answer was (unanimously) Schoenmakers, so they went after Cheney instead.

Take that for what it's worth.
Crude radio banter. If half the people on radio had half a brain they wouldn't be in an industry where they are given free license to carry on like the morons that they truly are to fill in the white spaces in between ads.

I think you will find we are a decent team to deal with so 29 is probably likely for Hallahan. Personally I don't understand why we are chasing him but Clayton obviously rates him.

It baffles me, not because he isn't a good player, but because the Suns need more mature players (we saw what happened when Ablett went down)

Mitch is still very raw at AFL level
A player like Simpkin or Cheney though...

Adelaide have shown some interest in another ruckman from GWS, the Victorian-born Tom Downie, whileHawthorn's Luke Lowden looks increasingly likely to stay at the Hawks.

Mitch Hallahan is considering an offer from the Gold Coast however the Suns and the Hawks will need to sort out an appropriate deal before he becomes certain of heading north. Hallahan has talent but has lacked opportunities at the back-to-back premiers.

It's a bit weird and it doesn't fit or spread our age profile, struggling to understand the clubs reasoning, thanks for the response

Trading Grimley and one of Cheney/Hallahan, while keeping Lowden for at least another season. Not too bad.
