We should treat Claye very well over the next 18 months ;)

Someone will pay it.

Despite hearing the footy experts discussing the potential of Melbourne getting a comp pick immediately after their first pick, it wasn't until reading it that I fully comprehended how absurd the situation is:

They're also likely to receive yet another priority pick, which would give them the first three picks in the draft.

The AFL has conceded it’s possible the Demons could receive a “special assistance” priority pick from the AFL Commission and if it happened, the embattled Demons would strongly argue for it to be used before Pick 1.

The actual content in that article seems to pretty much knock that on the head.

AFL football operations manager Mark Evans would not debate hypotheticals, but indicated a special assistance selection, if awarded, would not fall in the first round.
The likely spot would be ahead of the second round, thwarting the dream scenario.

Not sure if we would really have enough cash to get him over the line, but would we be interested in Frawley? Seems to be doing alright as a forward for the dees, and his age is pretty much perfect (25 at the moment). We would surely have the 800k needed, and if our KPF prospects look up in a few years (pick this year + hammelmen sp?) He could always swing back to defense when patfull/merrett retire.

Im starting to think we should make a huge play for frawley. We would have room in the cap to front load a good offer. He is showing he can play forward or back, and would immediately take pressure off teenage talls next season

am sick of gettin players from Melbourne. I don't think he is that good, maybe he looks good because Melbourne are so bad. But he is asking for 800k and he could be just another Stafan Martin.

Stefan Martin was available for two nothing picks. The fact that he's done nothing... well, it's basically a wash. Frawley probably isn't worth $800k IMO - though his price is undoubtedly getting pushed up due to scarcity - but recruiting Martin and Moloney shouldn't really play into whether or not we want him.

I think we should make a play for Frawley. I mean he can't be asking 800k that must be a price driven by media and fans. I feel around the 600k mark would be about where he is at if he can be consistent for the rest of this year. Whether or not the lions will pay that I don't know. He would deffinatly be starting 22 and could save 3 goals a game or hopefully kick 3 goals a game.

We are not in the ball park @650K he stays a Dee $700+ bye, bye.

We need a KPF first and foremost, he can pinch hit but he's not it. Lachie Henderson would be handy right now:rolleyes:

Those two sentences seem to conflict...

I mentioned this the other day, but i really think that if the likes of Aish, Taylor, Robbo and Cutler can really show something this year, than i think we do need to go hard for that KPF. The next few years, depending on how the academy pans out with players, i'd try keep our first round pick, but maybe look at trading our 2 and 3rd for some 23-26 year olds who can help swell our ranks, and maybe play a role in our team that we've missed in drafting. Cutler looks good early off HB, and we do still have Hanley, but i wouldn't mind another rebounding type HB player. I would also love a small forward, someone who can actually play that position and give us some goals, not play small forward until they become a mid. Would be ideal for these players to be at least serviceable skills wise, and have a bit of pace on them as well.

Hopefully we can keep most of our academy talent coming in via the rookie list, and supplementing with players like ZOB, maybe even find us a Templeton type. Although, in saying that, ideally we want a few academy types to be costing us a 2nd round pick or so, because it means we have some real quality there if we are forced to use picks that high.
