Injury 2014 Injury and Suspensions thread.

Sydney had significant injury problems in the lead up to last years finals and they still have a few out. We aren't the only club with injuries and we had a god run in 2011. And our current injury list is about average compared to other teams ATM

Is it really?

We've had injuries but we turn to spaghetti when we've got them in recent times. Quality lists don't do that.

Yeah true average at this stage but wow it escalated quickly :(. Agree about Sydney last year and us in 2011 but those have been the exceptions rather than the rule, and I still believe there must be a reason beyond "luck"

It always seems to be our best players and always from the midfield or rebound half back i.e. ones we can't cover easily. It just seems the great clubs can cover those types of outs.

It has been our forwards too at times (eg Lecras/Kennedy large chunks of 2012) and even Ruck (NN), but we've been able to cover them more easily. Shame our best mids (shuey/masten) and hbfs (water/hurn) also seem to be the most injury prone :(, could arguably even chuck LeCras/NN in the mid category

He has been rotating out of the midfield lately but more as an outside/run on mid. Not really sure how we are going to generate the run and fast ball movement which is required against the cats. It will be a good test of our depth and Simmos new game plan.

Yeah agreed. Should also add Wellingham to the "our best mids are also the most injury prone" category after missing a chunk of last year, and more recently bits of the preseason + the Saints this year . Is he a definite starter this weekend?

Waters dead
Hurn out for 6 weeks
Lecras out for 6 weeks
Masten out for 2 weeks
Shuey Suspended
Selwood on 1 leg

Did i fall asleep and wake up in a world of SHIT?

Yes that sucks big time.

So who comes in?

Wellingham
Hutchings
Hill
Tunbridge / Sheed
Butler so we can play Ellis more up field

Out:
Masten - inj
Shuey - sus
Le cras - inj
Selwood - inj
Sinclair - omitt

Well according to the club he is but you never know. I would lock him in though.

Yeah the list lengths looks the same but still our trouble is covering those sorts of outs.

Good thing is if all those tests come up, it's a fairly thin list, just with some fairly significant names. Hopefully we can get Shuey off (I doubt it though).

Also looking at that list, god Carlton's injury list is thin and they're 0-3. At least we've won some games.

The way our luck is going I doubt they will, but I am a natural pessimist. :)

Set aside the players listed as test it's waters, hurn, masten and lecras. Oh and barass who would be nowhere near selection anyway.

So two mid sized defenders where we have greatest depth, one mid and one forward. Any injury is a nuisance but it shouldn't be considered catastrophic especially since at the start of the season we were babbling about players being unlucky to miss out on selection. As supporters we need to harden up

Agree on Carlton's list. I thought they had heaps of players out but it's Judd and kreuzer. Two of their most important players obviously but not a long list

Well our season turned to shit rather quickly.

Injuries and Shuey's suspension. Looks like we will be looking to not lose by 10+ goals this weekend and preserve some pride.

Then it's Port who have very quickly overtaken us in terms of talent and form. Not looking good from here.

Is that too much truth for an Eagles supporter? My apologies if it is.

We can win the flag from here I reckon...is that better?

Well that's depressing. Masten and Shuey are the biggest losses of the lot; we'll need a miracle to beat Geelong now.
3 AA's
and our top 3 mids (bar Priddis)
Waters, LeCras, who's the third?

Have you not been reading this thread?

I hate to say it but if Lecras had passed the ball one bounce earlier when he had a free player in the 50 he wouldn't have got tackled and wouldn't have got injured. But he just had to kick the goal...

Remind me who port lost to yesterday?

From having one of the fittest lists coming into the season, to losing 3 important players in 2 weeks, plus Shuey suspended. Things have gone downhill for us fast.

I had a good feeling about this year too. Injuries are the shittest thing about this sport, really sucks.

People talking like this game is the end of the world. Play the kids, this game was going to be tough regardless of how many of our best we had on. TBH I'd rather lose against Geelong, Port, Freo and learn something rather than have a mass of injuries earlier and lose some of our first three. These players will come back later in the season. It's a very long year.
