Maybe someone at your place should get onto those vanilla slices.I might be able to sneak down for some of that. Will most likely have the lil one in tow though, but she would probably love a bit of a run around.

Thanks PTizzle.
I'm starting to get a bit dubious about the Suns. They've improved a lot from a low base in one season, but I'm not convinced that there's a premiership team within their current list.
And this is it. No more concessions. Same cap as everyone else next year. They'll get a few good players out of that academy zone but nothing really big in the immediate future.
This is probably not the thread for such a discussion but its one I'm pretty interested in. From almost the outset it has looked like GWS will be the stronger team, which I can only really put down to their smart recruiting of a few good young 20 year olds (namely Ward and Talia but you could include Scully). Even when they were getting thrashed you could see they had players that gave a stuff and seem to be down to do the dirty work.
While I think about it, there probably isn't much more reasoning behind it other then a gut feel. I look at the suns list and just don't get very intimidated by what they can become as opposed to when I look at gws. I guess both teams have young players with heaps of potential, but only one of them has slotted them into a configuration that actually looks like it will work.
I know that we have the lowest number of 1st round picks and GWS would have the highest by a long way but Im not sure how many the suns have. Im guessing there is a fair gap. Hence with a few injuries the suns struggle while GWS still has heaps of quality depthFor me the gws list has far more potential mainly due to two things. 1. They certainly got better players from their 17 year olds and 2. They got more value out of their mini draft and prelisted player trades than gc got out of theirs
They just seem to bat a bit deeper
I see it as quantity vs quality. With the exception of Cameron, Suns top end players are/will be better. GWS have the depth. For me the gws list has far more potential mainly due to two things. 1. I also really rate Dylan Shiel, probably one of my favourite players off both teams, so I'm pretty biased I suppose.
I'd be very surprised if Shiel is still at GWS in 2015.
Get's a lot of the ball but has a very high clanger rate. Not sure we need that. Not sure I agree with that. To me it seems that the suns star young MIDs seem more susceptible to getting tagged out the game as opposed to the GWS ones. Still its fun to speculate!

Why's that?

Yeah I probably agree with this.
For the what it's worth Ward and Treloar are streets ahead of any of the other Gws mids. The only genuine b+ to a-grade ones they have at this stage. GCS have Swallow, Prestia, & Bennell. A lot more ex factor in particular - GWS mids are quite vanilla.
Yes alright is the word I'd use. I'd put Coniglio, Shiel and Scully in the same boat.Whitfield goes alright.
Shiel is still quite inconsistent, but will be a very damaging player in the future. Not sure I agree with that. When GC are on, they absolutely tear teams apart. It doesn't happen too often, but they only need a few minutes to take the game away from the opposition. Their best 22 is superior to what GWS can put out there.Yeah I probably agree with this.

Scully probably isn't even on that level. Is he more valuable to GWS than Rohan Bewick in his current role is for us?(for about 1/10th of what Scully earns too)Yes alright is the word I'd use. I'd put Coniglio, Shiel and Scully in the same boat.

GWS have plenty of Prestia style mids, they're all a bit too similar for me.

The vanilla tag is definitely appropriate for the GWS midfield- too many vic metro kids?

See I have a feeling the suns have too many x-factor types and no one to do the grunt work. Still they are both pretty young teams, compare them to Redden/Rich/Rockliff who are only just starting to hit their consistent straps and GWS/GC have a few more years yet.
Do you have a preference between the two back lines? The only player that sticks out to me is Talia.
Talia from Adelaide or Bulldogs?
I prefer GCS back line by a fair bit at this stage. May, Kolodashnij, thompson, mcKenzie, Shaw, Russell with Day to go back as well when needed.
GWS have a stacked midfield which will lead the competition in a couple of years. Everywhere you turn they have guys who are at least very good inside players and over the last couple of years they have added Whitfield and Kelly on the outside. I think they have tended to move guys in and out of the team a lot which has not helped them find their groove but I am sure that will come. GAJ has been enormous for the Gold Coast and has really taken the pressure off the GC mids. Without him in the equation they have looked no better than GWS have despite being a year further down the track.
