That's not the claim I'm making.

I'm disputing the overall premise of your argument, which is the assertion "we have stacks of improvement, [whereas] hawthorn don't have any to come". If you want to exclude Rioli from the potential improvement discussion then fine by me, although personally I find it fanciful to suggest Cyril has no further room for improvement.

Broadly speaking, I do happen to rate our group of young players higher than Hawthorn's - especially in terms of depth of talent - but it's certainly not a wide gap when you put the respective top five u-23's head to head.

Christensen - 22
Duncan - 22
Motlop - 22
Vardy - 22
Guthrie - 21

Breust - 22
Gunston - 21
Hill - 20
Shoenmakers - 22
Shiels - 22
Caddy is in the top 5.

who do you think his game reminds you of?

Good question, when I watched his highlight reel before he got drafted, I would have said Selwood. But I agree with you, he could be like a JPK, he's a big bulldozer. That broken tackle and goal in the final qtr vs Hawks was awesome, he's already a big unit and will get bigger with more pre-seasons.

I don't have a problem with those players for what they are and I don't want to get into pissin contests with Hawks fans about who's better. My question is, which of those Whoreks is going to GET the ball. They're all 'wide receivers' perhaps with the exception of Shiels - but I'm doubtful on him too.

At least Bundy and Guthrie are dead set ball winners and Duncan does nearly his share of that too.

When Hodge and Mitchell are done, where's their next one in?
This is Hawthorn we're discussing.
It seems, when the time comes, they will get who they need and want.
They can, and they do, because they are Hawthorn, they seem destined to always be good and competitive, they are successful, success breeds success, players want to go there.
Don't like it?
People also think of Geelong like this- those outside Geelong more so.
Listen to the envy when you discuss our "plight" with Dogs, Demons, Saints, NM. GWS, GC, Lions etc supporters.

This suspense is killing me, I get the feeling that there is something big and complicated going on behind the scenes that the media haven't caught wind off yet, at least I hope so otherwise this checking of Big Footy, Facebook and Twitter every 3 minutes is going to all be for nothing...

Or its just that the trade period got a forever and the clubs are in no rush, the can afford to take their time and negotiate given it appears in Adams case it's down to 2 and in Shaws case apparently he has nominated us

Our two groups are not even close. Bundy is easily better than Breust (though Breust is a great forward), Duncan and Gunston are about level, Motlop and Hill don't make me laugh, Schoenmakers? Really (though Vardy is probably at the same level at the moment but I rate him a lot higher and Shiels has nothing on Guthrie. Only two I rate from their lot is Gunston and Breust the rest are pretty average.
Except when Gunston was winning the PF anf GF for Hawthorn and Duncan was repeatedly Firing aimless bombs out from full back as our lead was eroded...

I love Mitch, but Gunston is clearly better based on 2013.

I think they will drop well out of the 8, I really don't rate the kids they have at all. Once it comes time for a lot of them To step up in the older players absence soon I think they will really struggle.

Everyone is talking up them flying their draft picks out the window or first rounders and how amazing it is for mature players, well it's going to come back and bite them very soon I believe once a few of their older brigade fall off the perch
Agreed.

They are tryin to win their flags now, as they (rightly I think) feel the expansion clubs will dominate in the second half of this decade. They will rebuild at that time, while everyone else is slogging it out againt the super suns and giants - us included!

I hope if the saints end up with 87 first round draft picks, which could be the case the way they are going, that we might be able to get a hold of one. Will help immensely with all the dealing.

Any interest in SJ as a swap for #1?
Sacrilege!

But possibly the only way for us to get a high quality KPF without bottoming out, unless there is another father-son behemoth out there...

If we are a shot at a flag in the next three years, then SJ should be retained, otherwise will he still be around?

There would be pitchforks outside KP!

Just asking what could we realistically offer to secure a kid like Boyd, who GWS do not need, and SJ could be their Ablett, captain, high profile gun recruit.
Obviously not going to happen, but I wonder who, if anyone from our team, would suffice.
SJ seems the best choice.

Our best player for an unproven KPF, who we won't even need in the next 7 or 8 years if Vardy and Hawkins come good.
Phantasmagorical.
