The only place Varcoe will be going is to Adelaide, he has a contract and unless he requests a move home he won't be going anywhere.

My guess is that the club would try and facilitate a trade back to Adelaide if he asked for one.
Haven't seen any indication that Trav wants to go anywhere.

Seeing you are in red hot form regarding subs, who will it be this week?

Geelong runs a remarkably tight ship when it comes to its players and the media.......

And I think Varcoe will be the sub this week.

He would add something we don't have at present i.e a very good lock down player. Can play offensively too. However, your trade suggestions are waaaaay over the odds. Nor is he anywhere near a top ten pick as someone else suggested in my view.
Which trade suggestions? That is the only one I've made on our board.

Selwood is 23 years old and has played over a hundred games, he is also West Coast's reigning Best and Fairest winner.

He'd be worth a top ten pick.

Thank god for that!

Couldn't believe your call last week and was even more shocked when it came to fruition. From the game time Chappy got though it's reasonable enough to say myself along with many others were right in our reasons to be against it.

Being honest, Varcoe's value would be low right now after his injury problems and how horrible he has been this season.

Added to this fact is Adelaide don't have a draft pick to satisfy the trade (regardless of your, mine or anyone else's opinion on Varcoe) unless they trade someone out to get into the first 2 rounds.

And Port Adelaide, I reckon, will be looking to get Polec from the Lions which would probably count them out.

It is all moot anyway.

Have you met Dawson Simpson ?

Go Catters
Trade walker for 3rd rounder
dangle varcoe around prob pick 20ish
Move west on for whatever we can get
Delist Cowan, schrod, Corey and possibly j hunt. List needs a freshen up, we are looking stupid for bringing McIntosh in but oh well.

We lack class in the middle, Christianson caddy Duncan like good but just lack that little something. I'm hoping caddy can develop into a goal kicking clearance bull. Bartel isn't that ball winner he used to be, can he tag or rotate through the forward line. We need to move on a ruck and bring a top end ruck talent in, been killings us since ottens retires. A genuine ruck man, plan for Dawson and McIntosh to never be on the park. we have to many second rucks on our list.

Perhaps we target lycett, longer or pick at the GC rucks? A good ruck prospect 20-23 years old

With every due respect - you're dreaming.
With all due respect, Scott Selwood averaged 25.6 disposals a game this season, he also averaged 7.6 tackles a game.

He is 23 years old, has played 110 games and is the reigning WCE B&F winner in a season where they came fifth, he will probably win it this season also.

Can you please explain to me how he is not worth a top ten pick?

I just did a bit of research.

Scott Selwood averages more disposals, marks, clearances and tackles than Joel Selwood.

Obviously not saying Scott is better but he's a very handy player.

If I had pick #1 I'd trade for Scooter in a heart beat. Selwood is a proven A grader hitting his prime with plenty of years left.

A #1 pick will take a couple years before you get something in return a then a couple more before they hit Scooters level.

In Selwood draft year alone Chris Masten, Cale Morton, David Myers and Rhys Palmer were all top 10 picks. None of these come close to Selwood. Only Cochin (#2) and Dangerfield (#10) have claims to be better than Selwood.

Recent #1 picks Scooter could lay claims to being the equal of or better than include Murphy, Gibbs, Kruezer, Scully and Watts.

Picks are a gamble no matter how high unless there was a bonfide superstar like JOM in the draft I would trade a #1 pick let alone top 10 for Scooter in a heart beat.

Agree. Operation Get Scootet should commence this off season!

I concur sir!

Can't forget Harry Taylor was in the 2007 draft either though.

Selwood would go top 5 with Cotchin, Dangerfield, Taylor and Kreuzer (in no particular order)

We should offer them pick 33, see if they bite ;)

Being serious though they would probably want (and get a top 5 pick)

23 year olds who average 26 disposals and are tackle and clearance machines do not grow on trees!

Scott is exactly what we need, I'd trade Varcoe+16+33 for him in a heartbeat unless we believe Varcoe/16/33 can get anywhere near Scott's level? But I don't believe they can.

It'd have to be a steal at 16 like Selwood was at 22.

Very few top 10 draft picks get traded. Clubs are notoriously reluctant to let go of them.

If Selwood is contracted (I believe he is) then it would take something pretty juicy to get West Coast to deal.

Selwood was pick 22 for whatever crazy reason, no doubt at all though that he is a top 5 player from his draft.

Selwood is contracted also and when he is a free agent he will be restricted.

What he brings to the club that we don't have is he's a good lock down player. Apart from that we are blessed with young mids with talent waiting in the wings. That is not where our pressing need is. Another key position forward to succeed Pods. Another key position back to succeed Lonners. Perhaps another ruckman due to the injury worries re HMac and Dawson.

Scott Selwood is exactly the type of player we need and he's much more than a lockdown player, he's also a clearance machine which we don't have.

Our midfield is a pressing need and has been a problem for a while. especially with retirements looming.

Can you please logically explain to me how Selwood is not worth a top ten pick and explain to me why I am "dreaming" to say so?

What young mids do we have that are currently at Scott Selwoods level? and please do not say Motlop who is a forward at this point.

We have Vardy to succeed Pods and I agree we need a KPD but our midfield worries me just as much at this point.

Aside from changing the subject do you have any answer to my question?

If not please refrain from telling me I'm dreaming because obviously you know nothing about Scott Selwood or at least do some research first.

To re-phrase my comments as simply as I can in reply to your patronising post.

[1] We have many talented mids coming through. Repeat, that is not our primary need in the next year or two in my view.
[2] If we had a draft 10 pick available I listed where I thought it could be better utilised.
[3] Troy is a very good player but I don't rate him as highly as you. You're are entitled to your view. I don't agree with it.
[4] Vards is a year-to-year proposition due to injury. Anyone who banks on him as a sure thing to replace Pods is wide of the mark.
