A one liner for each of my picks

Pick 8 - Jarrod Pickett - Went for best talent available available, excitement machine, goal scoring midfielder
Pick 11 - Jack Steele - Bargain for GWS, knows how to rack it up, hopefully will be getting games in 2014
Pick 15 - Paul Ahern - 3 GWS picks in a row! Quality mid who picked up 26 lazy possies in the TAC cup grand final. May be competing with Steele for games in 2015
Pick 16 - Daniel Mckenzie - Targetted him for this pick - defender who knows how to get plenty of possies on the way
Pick 22 - Harrison Wigg - Of all the players in the draft, he was the must have, so went early for him. A defender averaging 19 possessions with the highest disposal efficiency at the national championships.
Pick 30 - Blaine Boekhorst - Couldn't turn down a midfielder at this pick likely to be named round 1 - Carlton supporters have high hopes for him
Pick 47 - Lukas Webb - Project forward player
Pick 58 - James Harmes - I struggled with this pick - so went for someone that i've seen live in person. Improved across the course of 2014, I reckon he'll either have made it or be delist fodder by mid year

Great work guys, two picks to go! Happy with my draft probably had just te right number of picks.

Let's hope Langdon can have a similar output to his brother this year. Anybody have any thoughts on the bloke? I needed a forward here and he seemed to be an ok type

Good pick! Probably would have been drafted higher had he played more footy this year. Plenty of upside in him.

Yeah saw that, he had one really promising game with 18 touches and a goal. Hopefully he can be the forward version of his brother if fit!

Thats me done - summary of my picks.

Pick 5 - Peter Wright (R/F) - Gold Coast Suns Pick 8.
Ruck/Key Fwd. “Two Metre Peter” was always going to be a target of mine, given I only have 1 viable Ruck (Paddy Ryder) on my list. As I mentioned previously, I had the the three mids (Petracca, Heeney and Bradshaw) and Peter as my top 4, closely followed by McCartin. To have in my mind 'best available' match up with 'highest need' is always difficult to balance so was pretty happy for him to be there - wasn't sure if he would go earlier considering how crazy high Rucks are valued in our league! He is probably more going to be a CHF type who can pinch in the Ruck and seems ready to go, which is rare for guys of his position. Looking forward to seeing him develop.

Pick 25 - Caleb Daniel (C/F) - Western Bulldogs Pick 46.
Small forward/Midfielder. Had him as a bit of a target at this pick. The number one ranked player at the National Champs - a lot guys had him as a top 5 in terms of pure talent. The main question mark, and the likely reason he dropped, is that he will be the shortest guy to play AFL at 167cm, if he makes it. While he has been compared to Gary Ablett (!) and Boomer, I'd be happy with half of that! Has elite endurance, can find the footy and has been playing SANFL footy against big bodies. Training reports from the Bulldogs are also super positive and having that Forward eligibility was a big plus. Was ranked in the top 15 by Champion Data so I'm hoping he can overcome his height but will be fun to watch nonetheless.

What about Caleb isn't top notch? His kicking is great. I wouldn't say elite yet but it's certainly excellent. His vision is elite. His creativity is excellent, his decision making is elite and it's even better under pressure. His agility is excellent, his pace is great, his tackling is fantastic (though I'm not sure how well that particular facet will transition to AFL level, he'd still be good but not elite), his distribution by hand is superb, his goalsense seemed great in the champs (it's not an element of his game I'd seen before then), his read of the game is elite, his aggression elite, ball winning excellent.

A top level AFL player can get away with being great in half of those elements. Caleb Daniel has them all. At SANFL level he's not outbodied…

Pick 60 - Alec Waterman - West Coast Father Son pick 76
Pure Inside Midfielder. As all of us with late picks did I'm sure, I had a group players who I suspected would be there near the end who I did a bit of research on. My biggest hope was that Glenn would get through to 60 but UC got in at 56. I don't know a whole lot about Waterman apart from him being touted as a top 5-10 guy last year before having a quiet year and slipping down the pecking order. There is some talk that perhaps WC held him back last year so they didn't have to pay too much for the F/S pick. I'm hoping thats the case and that he wasn't found out for his lack of pace. At this pick you are always taking a bit of a stab in the dark - hopefully he is a guy that can develop to fill a void left by Priddis in a few years. Had 35 touches against Vic Metro. Another summary from Skippos.

Pre champs I was a real Waterman fan. I had him 6th in my power rankings and thought he was an outside chance to go first round. He's slid a bit as a result down to 14 but I can't see him sliding any further in my eyes. There's just a lot about Waterman that I like. It's clear that all the parts haven't come together yet and he's by no means a finished product but the parts are there. His champs were better than people seem to think, too. Round 6 was a shocker, round 3 he was injured in and missed round 4 and round 5 he wasn't playing through the middle and was still pretty good. Rounds 1 and 2 he was excellent.

He's got a core strength that others in the crop don't have - he goes where he wants and you just can't move him. Without ball he picks his spots well and when he attacks the ball he straight lines it and it's nearly impossible to move him off that line (unlike the Walsh's who get moved off regularly). Over the ball his strength is unparalleled. Bampton and Hardisty are occasionally shifted, Gore and Neal-Bullen sometimes, Walsh regularly. Waterman isn't. It's a real point of difference and one I can see translating to AFL level with his frame being nearly perfect for the role he plays. On a weight/height ratio only Petracca could really claim to be heavier and yet Waterman's burst is still one of the better ones from the inside mids. At top speed he's still a bit of a plodder but within the stoppage he's able to accelerate out with power. If you watch a Walsh you'll notice he never has space inside the stoppage, he's always having to blindly kick or handball it laterally or backwards. Waterman doesn't do that, he creates space which he just shouldn't have which allows him to move the ball forward effectively, if you're exiting a stoppage Waterman is the bloke whose hands you want the ball in. That said while he does like to move the ball forward effectively if there's a player who presents a better option he'll take it with his distribution by hand solid and his secondary efforts excellent, unlike most inside mids after distributing the ball Waterman keeps on bolting to try and present another option. When he gets the ball on the outside his footskills are excellent.

Nice write up jimmy... I was deciding between cavka and waterman...waterman came into 2014 as one of the elite prospects and fell away, whether he was held back is the big question.

Pick 13 - Jayden Laverde
Was solidly inside my top 8 when I had pick 8 in the draft. The kid is all class. I wanted Steele though and figured pick 8 was too much of a reach for him and that he'd be available a little deeper so traded out to pick 13 with a few nice upgrades along the way. Never thought Laverde would still be available at 13. Only question is whether he moves into the midfield and if he does his output should skyrocket. I reckon he'll play at some stage this season too.

Pick 34 - Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
Thumping kick and likes to take off with the ball from the HBF. Fantasy friendly and suspect will play this season too. I'm hopeful he's a higher possession winning version of Shannon Hurn. Look forward to seeing him rack up kicks taking the Blues kick-ins.

Pick 35 - Sam Durdin
Awesome attributes and athleticism for a guy as big as he is. Will look forward to watching him develop, hopefully into something special. Doesn't hurt that he has R status either.

Pick 62 - Jeremy Finlayson
Yay. Will take some time to develop but pretty excited about what this kid can do. Endurance, speed and knows where to run and follows up when he's not the option used. Is a great reader of the play and gets a heap of intercept marks. Played NEAFL last season and was out-stripping some of his future GWS team mates. Will enjoy keeping an eye on his output in the NEAFL again this season :) Not sure if GWS will use him F or B but his output either way should be fairly decent.

Once you're done Unknown Caller are you able to move those players around to have the lists match up with the intended draftees and put the league live? :D
I can't edit teams. It has to be done through trades and free agent pickups.
