NFL 2014 NFL Draft

Niners, Ravens, quickly off the top of my head had fantastic drafts.
Lions shit.

---

And Sticks_Of_Fury I dont like Robinson because his technique is atrocious. He falls forward way too much, he cant pass block, and has very litltle technical idea how to pass block. I see Robinson is going to be a penalty machine in the NFL -- holding to compenate, and getting man-handled by DLmen with much better technique, more skilled hand usage that ends up seeing Robinson embarrassed.

He will be playing Left guard first year, he can learn better technique there, i think he will have time to get it right.

Still, I personally would have taken Mathews at 2. Long term I see minimal issues with his game he has to correct. Matthews has shown he can play RT and LT

Very interesting. Massive credit to you because that view is defiantly against the grain. I will watch with interest.

catters078 definitely would've taken Matthews LT ahead of any other Tackles. You don't pass up on a sure-thing like that. I also like Lewan and Mewhort (tho he'll apparently play inside too). Been many athletic/HWS beasts at OT over the recent years and most of them if not all of them have busted. Technicians are much better to draft.

Sticks_Of_Fury if you get to watch any "versus" game tape, and combine drill tests, you'll see it too.

People who never watch college ball judging which teams had good drafts/shit drafts? :drunk:

Amused at anyone who thinks Carr was a good pick. Career backup for mine unless he can find himself into a perfect situation (Seattle/Green Bay/NewEngland) where the gameplan can hide his deficiencies. If Oakland expect him to start. He'll bust harder than David.

To be fair I think the Browns and 49ers had the best draft - I just judge them based off the trades. Shame Browns wasted their second pick on Manziel.

Bills are going all in on Manuel. Going to cripple themselves for the next decade.

If Manuel puts in a stinker of a year they are going to really regret giving up a next years 1st round pick. Very silly move.

I'm undecided on the Manziel selection.
I feel it's a slight reach.
But with the alternative options available after Bortles went at #3.
The Browns got the next best QB in the draft.

And yes, Bills are ****ed if they're basing their future on Manuel.

It was this years 1st round they traded.
Browns have 2 1st rounders next year. Theirs and Buffalo's (So, #1 and #2 overall? :P )

Agree, the Niners have killed it as far as team needs go and they are drafting for the future and looking ahead not at the immediate concerns ( As they have little ). It does help though when you have a team that is SB caliber already.

49ers are my A+ draft grade by far after 3 rounds yet the monkeys in the media give the best grades to the teams with the high picks. Packers also the next best IMO and i grade it on what a team needs and what position they are in when selecting players.

Best available player on any 1 teams board is not always the best option for your franchise going forward.

Having the SB calibre roster is a massive advantage on that front, they can almost rebuild on the run. They're able to draft Thomas even though he won't play this year (and they did it with someone last year whose name escapes me), whereas most other teams don't have that luxury.

And yeah, the grading should really be on how well you fill your holes, which I guess still works in the favour of the high picking teams because they not only get the more talented players, but they also have more holes to fill. :P

Alex Smith may be available though.

I know that was intended as a joke, but say it hypothetically does happen then the Browns will be laughing. They could get 2 massive hauls of picks for QB needy teams trading up for Mariota and Winston! (this is presuming both of them have quality years then declare and that the Browns don't give up on Manziel after a year)

Exactly.. only reflection drafts from three years gone should be/ can be judged. In saying that.. I'll have to put up my hand for pre-judging..

I wouldn't know much apart from reading the 'expert reviews' and perhaps the occasional highlight reel to draw some 'proxy conclusions' that will most likely be dismissed within weeks… classic example and it's perhaps a karma thing as I relentlessly bagged Kelvin Benjamin and whattya know.. he gets picked up by the same team who plays for my FF #1 QB (Newton).. *slap in the face for moi * :drunk:

Who else did I bag?? hmmm… Gilbert… oh no.. you know what that means? my newly acquired QB from the Baggers.. Big Ben will most likely throw a pick six to this f***** prick! :p  :D

Moral of the story: careful what you say.. karma listens to us all and delivers the fated DEATH BLOW when you least expect it.

I'm gonna just pump up the opposition team draft picks and let my 'kiss of death' do the rest..

On a side note: my observations
Pats taking Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round was my vote for STUNNER / Wow pick
Cards showing Carson Palmer too much respect by not taking a QB yet..
Bucs QB's early christmas shopping spree = Toys 'r Us of this draft.
Is Eli Manning allergic to velvet? G-Men didn't take best Centre
Not buying into the elephant stamps on the Niners picks.. no sireee.
Eagles picked up an absolute gem in the second round..
Raiders suddenly shaping up to be a winner again
Lions overlooked Dennard and Fuller … what D*heads!!

Donald seems like one of two extremes... Either all of the post-NCAA season rising is justified and he explodes, or it isn't and he becomes just a meh, forgettable DT.

I like the line around him will certainly take stress off him.

He just rose like crazy through the rankings.
Did you see his combine results?

His on field performances were just as good too. Was a joke where he was initially ranked.

In my opinion he's a top 3 talent in the whole class

Dont you think he can improve his technique on pass blocking??? Obviously Matthews is the better tackle but potential wise Robinson is out of this world.

Anyone got a spare mop?

San Fran killing this draft. Take Bruce Ellington to fill the slot.

I'm going to be filthy if the Rams take a QB here. So much quality still on the table, a back up QB would feel like a waste

Didn't you take someone who's really only got the quality of a backup QB with pick #1 a few years ago?

Laugh my arse off at that.
'blah blah blah blah, Bortles best QB in this draft, blah blah blah, standout from the rest, blah blah blah, comparable with EJ Manuel'

I find it as a backhand compliment 'sure, you're the best QB by far in this draft.........Too bad it's a shithouse qb pool'
