NFL 2014 NFL Draft

Teams are swooping on the Undrafted talent!

Skov to the Raiders.

Whaley to Dallas. :thumbsu:

Happens every year but this year they're learning pretty damn fast.. many will be discarded within a couple months but you know one will be an absolute gem. Talk 'em up and then get cut before you know it and be a starter on another team six months down the track.

Woodson Steelers just took Blanchflower in the 7th round!

I noticed.. :p But like anything… will need to fight for a roster spot against two others including CLIVE (Palmer) and a UDFA just signed from Missouri (Eric Waters).

All depends on how Bortles develops, but I really like the Jags' draft. Caldwell and Co. know their shit.

You just know if it was other older team like the Vikings, that the Bortles pick would of won better media coverage. Who cares… Jags seem to get by going under the radar and with ex-Seahawk DC Gus Bradley in charge, they're only gonna get better as the second half of their 2013 season proved that things are starting to gel. The pick that Gus Bradley is gonna be pinching himself with, IS how the heck Telvin Smith fell into their laps in the fifth!! Extraordinary stuff!! This guy is gonna be immense I feel.

SCREAMS PLAYMAKER!!

GG was a lil' too early on getting his prediction of the Jags being the team to watch last year… they're now one year away from becoming a formidable Division challenger if all goes right with their incoming rookies. Jiggyville is coming.

Consistent mediocrity
From the little I read it sounds like mccarron has the same faults as dalton, especially a propensity to force passes and make bone headed decisions, without the arm strength to throw deep balls

With the recruiting of hill to back up Bernard though it seems the run is going to feature strongly for us this season

The draft being a primetime event sucks now. It used to be on a weekend and start during the day, and you and every football fan you knew got together at a friend's house, ordered food, and before each pick you wrote down your name and the pick on a piece of paper and turned it over. Whoever got it right got a dollar from everyone else. And now I miss my childhood, god damn it.

Laugh my arse off at that.
'blah blah blah blah, Bortles best QB in this draft, blah blah blah, standout from the rest, blah blah blah, comparable with EJ Manuel'

I find it as a backhand compliment 'sure, you're the best QB by far in this draft.........Too bad it's a shithouse qb pool'

Was that the EPSN Sports Science ad?

Did LOL each time I saw that, same as Manuel, slightly better than Dalton, ringing endorsement. :drunk:

The entire pre-season is going to be about....

Johnny Manziel and Michael Sam

I prefer to focus on the inevitable Jets QB controversy.

Can't believe Skov didn't get drafted. Absolute joke.
He's an average player.
Too slow for the NFL.
Surely you could've seen it?
Oh wait, homer Stanford fan.
Carry on.

.
Yep, that's the one.

Can't believe Leno got drafted.
He's shit.
Enjoy the wasted draft pick Chicago.

Matt Paradis to Denver shocked me. I thought he could eventually make a spot on a 52 man roster. But it'd have to have been through the UDFA route. Didn't think he had done enough to get drafted. Good potential, but I think it was a reach.

on the UDFA front
Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe to San Diego - I like that one, will be a good run stopper. Having said that, with the way the NFL is going towards the pass, he'll be useless by 2015.
Geraldo Hiwat (well, Boldewijn now) to Atlanta - I like it. Has the physical tools to make it, but is only pure potential. On current ability I think he's practise squad worthy, but has the potential to be a starter. (Not pro bowl worthy, but a good #2)
Aaron Burks to Tampa Bay - Way to waste a roster spot Tampa.

And I saw James Franklin went to Detroit as an UDFA. Kellen should win that battle, might even take out the backup spot (Orlovsky? really?) but he might also get cut and sent to a team who needs him *cough* Houston *cough*

Well one of the feel good stories out of the draft was John Urschel, taken with pick 175 by the Ravens. Enjoyed it when Trey Wingo recounted the story how, when Bill O'Brien started coaching at Penn State, the coaching staff there drew up a whiteboard and marked it with colours indicating when different students would have classes so that they could schedule training for the football team and the two didn't clash. Urschel was the only player with a unique colour beside his name. When O'Brien queried this he was told that Urschel didn't attend classes, those were the ones he taught :)

Masters in maths with the intention of obtaining his PHD, good luck to him in the future.

Joe Southwick doing a rookie mini-camp with Oakland?
Sheesh, may as well trade for Dalton, just as mediocre except they don't get the added baggage of Riggy hovering around Oakland for news.

Cleveland, with their new additions, are the one to watch next year.

Why because they took Johnny over rated Mr Football????

The division they are in is terrible for them with the Steelers having a chip on their shoulder after last season and recruiting very well on the defensive front, then you have the Ravens and Bengals who are no slouches........ The Browns are in for a world of hurt within their division and Manziel will be another TBow clone and playing in the CFL by 2017 if not earlier as his college game/success will not make it at the Pro level.

I also forgot to mention who the hell is Manziel going to throw the ball to???????

Greg Little and Cameron are good targets. Gordon will leave a massive hole if he is out for the year.

The additions in their secondary (Gilbert, Desir) along with Haden will help them against the pass.

I think Johnny will be a far better player than Tebow. He has a far better arm.

Joe Southwick is definitely a good sleeper QB. Glad Oakland are smart enough to check him out.

Also, no one's mentioned, David Yankey (still an Australian citizen) got drafted.
The aussie 'hype' was about the punter Hornsey from Memphis. Yankey didn't get a look-in.

Given some of the players undrafted, the Redskins could have got a few steals in the 7th round instead of a few questionable choices.

The Browns have no pass rush so the secondary is useless if you give the opposing QB 10mins to throw the ball.

Manziels arm is no better than T-Bows and TBow was a bigger body and still did not succeed with an identical playing style to Manziel. You can not just run over everybody at the Pro level like college and there are so many comparisons between Manziel and TBow it is not funny as they are identical coming out of college with game styles that mirror each other.

Little and Cameron have upside but are no stars and Gordon will be suspended for sure i reckon.

They may surprise a few teams early and have a few wins but they will be worked out quick and be around the 5-6 mark for wins.

Tebow's arm strength wasn't the problem. Tebow's inability to throw with consistent accuracy was the problem. Even now, Manziel is a far more accomplished and polished passer than Tebow ever was. I'm not fighting for the worth of Manziel as he's as much a media creation as he is an on-field success.

To me, Manziel strikes me as a modern day Doug Flutie. It'll be interesting to see how his career develops. Josh Gordon hasn't helped it get off to a good start.
