In the unlikely event we play them, i say let them have their song

We all know they like to get fired up about shit that doesn't matter and they probably come out breathing fire and the game would be gone before we even blinked

I think they would replace Never Stop Stop Stop Till We're Top with it. So basically a song they have played 11 times and probably started as some cross promotion from Koch for that INXS movie on 7 at the start of the year has more significance and meaning than the song they have ran out to hundreds of times and sang after their premiership... So much tradition.

AFL article on Port playing Never Tear Us Apart at home finals.

"Final sign-off on the song may still rest with Port's greatest rivals, should the Power and Crows come up against each other in the first week of finals.

Thomas said he was hopeful that Adelaide would endorse Port playing its anthem before the game in the interests of sportsmanship and goodwill.

“I think Adelaide does understand the importance and significance of the song to our people, and I’m sure they’d endorse and support us playing it before the game."

First who really understands the significance... And why would any club give them permission to get an edge at a neautural game if both clubs have to agree, not just us.

I'd be happy to let the home team take over all home finals, but not for exceptions for one club out of 8.
They actually do believe someone has wronged them (they're not quite sure who but someone). Drama queens. Always surprises me how such a supposedly great club attracts so many losers.

Firstly, we won't be playing Port next week.

This holding the scarves while playing that ****ing dirge of a song is so overrated it's ridiculous. Significance? Bwa ha ha ha ha. How significant is it to my brother in law who was a Power member, played league SANFL but not for Port magpies, and won't renew his membership nor follow the Power because of 'one Port'.
Sure, let port do it if nothing else to stop the whinging even though no other team in the finals will get this kind of 'Concession'. Port - the entitled ones, it's all about me me me.

Its as important to them as the State Jumper was to us. If we have to endorse it.........say NO. Just to piss them off, this is a rivalry........ Nahh, acatuallly they should be allowed to play it. Great song, I would sing along.

If we had to give it the ok, then any club they played would have to do the same. In that case why would a club coming here from interstate give them the ok to get 90% of the crowd going and inspire the players, if it really does that. The don't let them get fired up by saying no and turning it into another us vs them thing someone mentioned earlier makes sense though.

I don't mind the song, it's a bit of fun. However, the obnoxiousness of some Powder Puffs like they're the first team to ever do something like this gets annoying when it's a clear rip off of Liverpool/Newcastle Jets and Kochie's brainwave to cash in on the INXS mini-series at the 1st Showdown. (There's not anything necessarily wrong with adapting and evolving other's ideas either). It does feed into their persecution complex quite nicely thoughI'll give them that.

If we were to play them at AO next week (really hope not, they would smash us on a dry deck), I'd hope we knock them back purely because why should we voluntarily allow them any sort of competititve advantage (no matter how small that advantage may be) if we can help it? They'd sure do the same to us if given the chance.

If given the opportunity, we should definitely say no.

Or sing an alternate version, and replace "Never Tear Us Apart" with "Get The **** Off Our Park", complete with auto-asphyxiation references, etc.
Sung while pointing at the Port cheer squad

They've been around
For a "thousand" years
But if you hurt them
They'll be whining for years

We told you
That when you choke * there's your footy-relevant auto-asphyxiation gag
The whole state laughs
Because we all think the Power is one massive joke

We
We were first in
You were there
Just simply watching
Now get the **** off our park!

ThundaPower / that massive fist wanking machine pageant float explodes in the centre of Adelaide Oval.

The end.

The more I think about it the whole state Guernsey beat up was a complete disgrace. You don't mind the ferals getting up in arms as you wouldn't expect anything less but from people like Chris McDermott, ketnahan etc was really pathetic. The sanfl is our heritage and with over 150 years of Sa football history why shouldn't we be allowed to acknowledge and celebrate football in this state.

I felt we were forced to change our history because of Ports recent desire to be the other team for all South Australians.

Well someone had to, wasn't as if your fans were turning up to help out.
Let's not do the usual dance. It is common knowledge the stadium deal ***ed both clubs and any money back was money we had already made for them, or are you saying Glenelg were stumping up the money?

The stadium deal may have "***ed" (poor choice of words by the way) but your supporters were the ones not showing up regardless.....
