Every time I watch Gunston play I vomit a little bit. Why this kid spent so long in the SANFL I will never know.

I've made this point a few times. Terrible man management. For a kid from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne being forced to hang out at Elizabeth probably didn't help your cause either.

Maybe we didn't have to drop him 4 times in his first 8 games? Not much the AFC could do about that in all fairness with the system the way it was set up, came down to a "draft" amongst the SANFL clubs was my understanding......though I doubt in Gunston's case even if we had the "current" system with a side in the SANFL I seriously doubt he would have stayed given his privileged background I believe he was always leaving as soon as he could.

Given that we were garbage and all.
he played 2 games in his first year and 12 in his 2nd year...compare that with other KPF from the same draft, Carlisle, Aaron Black, Sam Reid, John Butcher etc, I have!!

Half his games came after Neil got sacked and suddenly he was in the team.he played 2 games in his first year and 12 in his 2nd year...compare that with other KPF from the same draft, Carlisle, Aaron Black, Sam Reid, John Butcher etc, I have!!

That still does not excuse the one size fits all attitude. Might as well had someone screaming at him " you're in the Army now son"Not much the AFC could do about that in all fairness with the system the way it was set up, came down to a "draft" amongst the SANFL clubs was my understanding......though I doubt in Gunston's case even if we had the "current" system with a side in the SANFL I seriously doubt he would have stayed given his privileged background I believe he was always leaving as soon as he could.
Why would you compare him with the players you have listed. He's much better than all the players you mentioned. Blind Freddie could tell from day one the kid had enormous talent.
All bar John Butcher have developed at around the same trajectory to now be regular AFL players both physically and games played.
You are entitled to your opinions as why he left as am I, personally I think he was leaving as soon as he had met his draft obligations come what may.
Nowhere has he stated the reason he left was because of anything the AFC did, but I guess it just suits some to blame the club for everything.

We could request transfers - he should have been sent to Norwood or Sturt and we might have had a slim chance of retaining him.
Every decent draftee who gets taken interstate would be disappointed initially and dream of returning home as soon as they can. Then they get caught up in the club environment and their perspective changes. Or don't as the case may be.Sorry I agree with Bicks here. Guston was always going, like Anthony Rocca before him they spent their time as required and left.
People need to stop trying to make shit up to rationalise their position on it.
There are always those special cases, for whatever reason don't or won't change.Every decent draftee who gets taken interstate would be disappointed initially and dream of returning home as soon as they can. I'm saying its something we should have been alert toSo your suggesting or know Jack requested a transfer to another club and relayed this to the club as opposed to he may have just chosen to "suffer" in silence because he knew he would soon be out of there???
It might be a coincidence that we have lost three young 10 year key position players while other clubs haven't.There are always those special cases, for whatever reason don't or won't change.
It happens in real life so why wouldn't it happen in AFL?
