Or perhaps they had a Port sized sponsorship budget (if the difference in memberships is anything to go by) that didn't interest the Crows until Fagan and Roo decided to try and get more money out of them. No doubt we will be adding sponsors in the off season that Port don't have as well. Good for them its great value for money at the moment.

Oak, horrible drink, but you would think it probably replaces Farmers Union for them? perhaps they increase their sponsorship level with the Crows now.

Personally I'm a Dare fan but lets just stay away from a Barista Bros. sponsorship and I'll be happy.

I dont have an issue with the sponsorship not being taken up by the AFC, just how they went about it corporately.

By "are FU men", I mean we already have them as sponsors, so it would be tough to take on a competitor in the same space.

I get that a company would want to try and replace them, but then that depends on how they approached the AFC.

Depends on how you heard the story, I guess.

Meetings were arranged with both Clubs.

One was professional and took it seriously, the other was unprofessional and condescending, they showed little interest until it was to late.
That doesn't surprise me if what I had heard about their selling of the club to prospective players over the past few years is true. One club has a "we'd love for someone like you to be involved with us" attitude while the other had a "You should be so happy that a club of our standing would consider being involved with you" attitude.

This all started under the previous administration so I have no doubt that these things will be handled in a more professional manner in the future. This is the 3rd time I have had similiar information regarding our conduct in the business arena under the previous admin.

I would be interested to know how much the FUIC sponsorship is worth.

Please tell me that isn't true.

Sucked in Carlton.

Do you mind me asking how you know this? I mean, how do we know that our conduct wasn't being leaked by someone from Port Adelaide? We might have politely declined and it's all a beat up, or the sponsor took the rejection as an insult and is trying to make the Crows look bad so that the sponsor looks awesome for dealing with Port Adelaide and Port Adelaide look awesome for accepting them with open arms. I mean, it's a great way to drum up interest about the new sponsor and that's what sponsor's want, their product being advertised and the message getting out. Slagging off the Crows could equate to more publicity.

I wish that was the way it happened.

My information did not come from the PAFC and there is no sour grapes from the sponsor.

It would be interesting to know what it costs to sponsor each club. Ours would surely be quite a bit more. Just going on the 4 categories each club lists sponsorships Port have twice as many Major sponors, same amount in the second group, twice as many as us in the third group and 10 less in the last group. Considering they don't do as well from corporates as we do you would almost thing everyone on their list is bumped up a level from ours.

I do remember articles years ago suggesting Port turned over more then the Crows (was maybe 2-3m on a 35 or so Million figure).

Obviously things changed since then, but it was interesting to read that. Not sure how that directly relates to the sponsorship level, but it's probably showing that Port has higher costs in areas to not generate the profit.. who knows anyway.

Yep Port have 10 mill or so pumped through its pub(s) but don't really make any money on the extra revenue.

Yeah I had a feeling that was a reason. Probably why they re-worked them lately too.

Let me look into it... ;)

Robbie Gray inked a 3 year deal to take him through to 30 y.o. I always think he is much younger than that for some reason. 27 at the start of next season. I always think he's around Danger/Sloane's age
