On another topic, I'm putting all my money on the Bombers players getting a very, very light sentence, now that the AFL is in charge this whole thing for now.

I've been thinking about the whole situation. The AFL would never let basically an entire team get rubbed out for 2 years. They signed a billion dollar TV rights deal, which would have had very strict guidelines about how many games per week/year, if 1 team is gone for a chunk of a season, or a whole 1, imagine how much revenue the TV networks would lose by having 1 less game a week. They would likely sue the AFL for breach of contract. Plus all the money the AFL themselves would lose each week/season.

We all know none of that will ever happen, and they will come out with some weak excuse as to why the players are only getting a 2 month ban, missing some pre season training and the nab challenge games, and all will be rosy by round 1. I'm guessing the AFL were hoping this would all go away after they suspended the bombers from the finals in 2013, and hoped the court case against ASADA would mean the whole thing was null & void and we would all move on.

I'm glad ASADA have been so strong in the whole thing and haven't let the AFL walk all over them, and I hope if the AFL go soft, ASADA appeal and wipe them out for the maximum 2 years.

Essendon had a chance to come clean at the beginning. They decided to go down another road. There should be no leniency even though the AFL will arrive at whatever decision costs them the least amount of money. Expect a 2 month ban with WADA coming in over the top.

I don't know who is ultimately culpable, or how history is going to view this whole ordeal, but I'm just glad that the Eagles saga that broke in 2007 is no longer footy's biggest ever story.

I thought Throne wrote the biggest ever footy story.

They should be forced to wear some sort of ridiculous guernsey all season, or like super baggy jumpers so that they're easy to tackle, or boots with no studs so they slip over all the time.

It would mean the AFL doesn't miss out on their contracted number of televised matches, and also provide a bit of comic relief - might even lift ratings!

AFL suspended Hird for a year for bringing the game into disrepute

Essendon then paid him a year in advance and sent him off to France on a study tour

I'm hoping that if the players are found guilty it will allow ASADA to go after Hird for overseeing a doping program as head coach. Not sure if that can happen though

Random question, didn't really know where to post it. Have any of you seen the 2014 Freo Membership stickers? It says some shit like "own the monent" haha, yeah right, anyway the thing I noticed, is the whole thing, the background, the text, even the logo, are in different shades of blue Last time I checked, Freo were purple, not blue, if they are ashamed to use such a shitty colour, get rid of it all together, don't start making stuff in better colours that have nothing to do with your club because your primary colours sucks!

This is the shit I think about stuck in peak hour traffic looking at the back of a Prado for 45 minutes with that shit sticker on it

They should just bring back the green and red then, they seemingly got rid of them for marketing purposes by just using one color (even though Perth Glory were already doing it).

As usual its up to WC to proudly represent this state while little Freo cowers in the corner. The reason why this weak club will only ever 'make up the numbers'.

But it works out well because there is no Freo player who deserves to represent Australia especially a pea hearted sniper

Yep, and people on here ripped our recruiters to shreds for not taking the risk on him. "Who cares if he acts up a little if hes really talented? , people are too PC these days unlike the old days when it was all about ability etc"

Must admit I thought we should have rookie listed him at least back in 2012 and would have been happy if we drafted him late in 2013 had hawthorn not jumped in

Agree, but still dodgy, I'd say he was very unlikely to play the whole time, especially with Ross Lyin' as the assistant coach of the IR team. Would have all been a ploy to try and sell some tickets, especially for us WA folks, then just get him to fall over, oh no dodgy shoulder, me no play, easy done.
