Watching the Freo game, it seems to me holding the ball basically isn't called anymore unless you're the unlucky bloke over the top of it at the bottom of the pack. The number of times players from both teams have had chances to get rid of the ball or tried to take on the tackler with a fend off, and then been tackled has been insane. Yet not a single one has been called ball.

Judd going down is bad for Carlton and now the league. If anybody was going to bring Carlton back, It was going to start with some input from Judd. Sad news indeed, He has left his mark on the game though. I hope it isnt the end but I guess you just have to wait and see how bad it is

I love how the AFL has gone to panic stations after the botched goal review in the demons v suns game today, yet that terrible mark paid to hartlett ended in exactly the same result, an undeserved goal. Mistakes are made by umpires all the time that effect games, i really can't see the difference that requires goal reviews.

Yep, tackles are not being rewarded; it seems the over-riding concern is just to keep the game moving on at all costs ...play on...playon is the call. That's fine, but reward effort in the tackling for christ's sake.

Agreed...

The AFL are going on about the average free kicks paid per game dropping dramatically, however there's a difference between paying a free kick that's there and letting the game go.

Can't please everybody I suppose.

Yes but there isn't anything that can be done about the Hartlett free. That was just poor umpiring. There were a few newbies out there.

The goal is to minimise the mistakes. Using the telecast to zoom in, is embarrassing for the competition.

I am so embarrassed when I watch teams like this play. Just highlights every frustrating deficiency we have in our team. None more so than the elite disposal out of the midfield.

I just enjoy watching two great teams play and hope that we can emulate what they've both done to get to where they are. No need to be embarrassed about it

I'll be truly pissed and disappointed if Cats or Hawks win the flag. Looking likely .. They trounce us as clubs and organisations now, hawks a flag in 88 89 91 08 13..14? Cats 07 09 11..14? We seem middling team along with Essendon
