St Kilda set to announce former Port Melbourne VFL assistant Peta Searle as Saints’ new development coach

PETA Searle has become the AFL’s first full-time female assistant coach after accepting a position at St Kilda.

Searle is expected to begin work immediately as a development coach at Seaford after her last game as assistant coach under Daniel Harford at St Kevin’s Old Boys on Saturday.

The decision comes after a series of disciplinary issues with Bootsma that have compounded, and follows discussions with both Bootsma’s management and the AFL Players Association.

Carlton was yesterday made aware that Bootsma had been engaging in inappropriate behaviour on social media.

The Club has been offering Bootsma counselling and welfare support to address his disciplinary issues, however he has failed to adhere to the standards expected and required.

So sounds like sending pictures of his weiner was the final straw

Initial feel is they've been looking for an excuse to get rid of him for some time and this is the opportunity they were waiting for.

If they even slightly rated him it would have been off to train and play for the VFL for 6 months and get your act together

Carlton contacted us, not the other way around. Vozzo just gently considered it when pressed in the media (Probably so as not to humiliate Bootsma) but I don't think we had any serious discussions.
