Two seasons without beating a top 8 team. That is Melbourne-like.

No, we got close earlier in the season when they had better form, plus they have a trend of fading late in the season anyway

Exactly re: Geelong/Hawks. I'd prefer Pies or Roos to win (though in both cases they'd be winning their 3rd since our existence...). Roos only pip Freo because it's been so long since their last flag, but Freo are overdue to win won

The eagles won against a top 8 team away, and you want to degrade it with 'but they were distracted by Asada.', 'but they ended up 9th by choice...', etc

How about enjoying the positives and enjoying an achievement by the team instead of being a negative nelly and trying to diminish it. No wonder your are constantly brown nosing on the Dockers board, you share a similar mind set of trying to put the eagles down.

It will all come down to the final few rounds. All of the top 5 teams have about 3 hard games each before the end of the season. Those games will decide the 4.

I feel sick saying this but If worse came to worse I'd rather Freo win it than Sydney this year.

Obviously I don't expect many other Eagles to feel that way but I'm born, raised and spent most of my life in Sydney. I never minded them too much but when a team is able to recruit the best key forward in the land and another who in in the top ten or so despite the "equalisation measures" and salary cap in place it starts to leave a sour taste in the mouth.

That being said I'd take any one of other top teams over those two. Port would be a great story and despite having an irrational hate towards them for their entire existence until last year - I think it was the boring colours, shit song, and generally lacking any personality - I have come to find them as one of the most entertaining teams to watch of the past 20 or so years.
