I'm astounded that our screw-up against Carlton isn't even in the Top 3 collapses of 2014 atm.

I'd still rather Sydney win it tbhI feel sick saying this but If worse came to worse I'd rather Freo win it than Sydney this year.
Obviously I don't expect many other Eagles to feel that way but I'm born, raised and spent most of my life in Sydney. I never minded them too much but when a team is able to recruit the best key forward in the land and another who in in the top ten or so despite the "equalisation measures" and salary cap in place it starts to leave a sour taste in the mouth.
That being said I'd take any one of other top teams over those two. Port would be a great story and despite having an irrational hate towards them for their entire existence until last year - I think it was the boring colours, shit song, and generally lacking any personality - I have come to find them as one of the most entertaining teams to watch of the past 20 or so years.

West Coast chairman Alan Cransberg echoed the private and public thoughts of 10 club bosses contacted on Monday when he said: “I just think it’s a bloody pity that we’re going to have at least another 18 months of this circus. At some stage you’ve got to take your right whack.”
I haven't heard Cransberg talk at all, even about his own club, in probably 2 years. We very very rarely make comment on non eagles issues. For cransberg to give such a public whack on another club shows how pissed off the other clubs must be with essendon.

I've seen enough to realise that Freo have no chance of winning a flag under Ross Lyon.****. Everything is falling in place for Freo to finish top 4.
Got a bad feeling we'll be spending another GF week putting up with bandwagoners and praying that the purple ****s lose.

Is it really? I think this year is their last chance in this window. Port and Sydney have cruised past them this year, and I still think Hawthorn are the benchmark (my tip for the flag). Freo may finish top four, but they'll lose to Sydney or Port in the first week, then face a Collingwood or Geelong at home, which they aren't guaranteed to win, followed by another trip to Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne. That's a huge call, they were the second best side last year.
A statistic worth noting is that 96 per cent of participants in any sport in the world who have received show-cause notices have been later issued with infraction notices which is being charged with an offence.
Enjoy the ride HTB, you're going to be devastated when it finishes.I reckon we'll go even further and seek to have our fine paid back and draft concessions to replace picks lost. As for compo for our finals series? You can't put a price on it, the AFL will have to work extremely hard to keep us happy.
I've done predictor and I had Fremantle sneaking into second... two home finals means they'll make the GF at the very least. Is it really? I think this year is their last chance in this window. I have them losing to Geelong away, Hawthorn at home and Port at home. They won't finish top two, and two home finals doesn't mean they will make the GF at the very least.I've done predictor and I had Fremantle sneaking into second... two home finals means they'll make the GF at the very least.
Hopefully they lose to either Hawks at home or Geelong away to snuff that chance away, though. They cannot lose another game under my predictor; and how could you go against a team on a ten game winning streak if they happen to make it?
Geelong away for them will be the key to it all. I expect them to deal with Hawthorn at home, and their game against Port they will win if Port have top 2 sewn up and send their B team over in preparation for finals.I have them losing to Geelong away, Hawthorn at home and Port at home. They won't finish top two, and two home finals doesn't mean they will make the GF at the very least.
