No we stop talking about finals when we lose our next game , likely next week but if not , then probably the week afterSo if GCS wins do we finally stop talking about finals or?
IF we continue to win (that's the unlikely part ) , we will make the finals because we now have a similar (actually, slightly better) % than the teams around us, and the teams around us don't have easy draws either.
=>Pies play Port (useful but not necessary that Port win ), us , lions , giants and Hawks
(Thankfully can't see them beating Hawks and Port , and losing one of those + our game would be enough to make up the difference)
=>Suns play blues , port , Essendon and us
Can't see them winning all 3 of those first 3 games
=>Crows play lions , Richmond , north and saints . Luckily the north game is in Melbourne , but Adelaide still remain the biggest threat (they are only 1 game ahead of us now but they're probably the most likely team to make the 8, looking at each of the draws ). Still, North will be favourites , and are on-off even moreso than Adelaide , so let's just hope that North turn up that week . They've had 2 losses in a row so are due for some form. Plus, North's incentive will be securing 5th/6th and a home final.
Fwiw Essendon play Richmond , us , suns and Carlton . They may well win all of Richmond /suns/Carlton but could also drop a game and therefore drop out of the 8 . Things would be interesting if all of a sudden , 2 spots in the top 8 freed up
If Geelong beat Freo next week and Port beat Pies /regain their form , Freo might slip to 5th
(so 8th will be worth something). I'd only be happy with an "away" Derby final
(as they're the ones who'd be losing their home ground advantage ).
