Sounds like there was a known risk of this going into the preseason, wonder if that affected our willingness to trade picks?

No more so than Scharenberg wasn't the type of player we were after at this point in time.
If he'd been what we were after then I'm sure we would've selected him.
Pre-injury he was considered a likely top 2 pick.
Collingwood can afford for him to take 12+ months getting better (and any club taking him would've anticipated that).

While the kids aren't bad I'd be quite concerned about the fact that you cannot possibly get any more output from Swan or Pendlebury.
If these guys slow down at all their midfield will quickly go from competitive to below average.
Their backline has some issues and will be exposed without a competitive midfield.

Bucks is Eddie's love child, he would have to pretty much do a three-peat of wooden spoons for Eddie to even consider getting rid of him.

Forgetting about the personalities involved, Bucks is doing a reasonable job of weeding out those who don't set the right standards/fall short of the professional ethic needed. He's cut a few club favourites which cause short term pain, but I'd have little doubt that the club will be better off in the long run.
