Pies were deplorable.
Music to my ears...shame it was against the purple parasites. Net loss, really...now I'm wishing the Pies had won. Bugger.

I couldn't watch the game, followed it on (and off) on the AFL site...at least you can get regular score updates there.

The saddest part is that I still expect Collingwood to smack us in Melbourne this year. FFS
Call me an optimist (which I really am), but I respectfully disagree.

The Pies have an awesome midfield, no arguments there, some of the best players in the comp - Pendles, Beams, Swan, Sidey...I'm drooling just thinking about it. But gone are Thomas and Heater plus trampoline boy, which is a helluva lot of outside run and carry to lose in the last couple of years*. Right now they have some serious injury issues in their forward and back lines (lots of talls out). Plus they're running with Grundy** (isn't he...like...16 years old?) as their number one ruck. So up against our elite ruck, forward and defensive lines, plus (I expect) much improved (on last year) midfield I can see us rolling them.

What would help our cause is to ensure their injury woes continue...trip to Melbourne, anyone? Well, it just so happens that me and a bunch of mates are in the final stages of planning a trip to Melbourne to watch the round 10 game...actually, they're already good to go and I'm umm-ing and aah-ing about cost, time off work, blah, blah, typical nothing excuses. Lock me in, Eddie!! So anyways, does anyone know where Scott Pendlebury lives?

*How many teams in the comp could afford to lose Sharrod Wellingham, Dale Thomas and Heath Shaw and STILL have strong outside runners and rebound off half back? Lumumba seems to have improved out of sight in the past couple of years (is it the change of name?), Seedsman is already good and improving...and now Langdon...PLUS Scharenberg and Freeman out. Scary, really. Personally I think what they need to do is focus on key position players at the next draft.
**Kid is an awesome talent and will be the number 1 ruckman in the comp...but not this year.

The prospect of playing Collingwood twice looks a lot better now. If they continue their freo game form we could mark off 8 games as wins (the saints twice, the dees twice, the suns twice and the pies twice)

Just got home, my God that was shite. The Freo supporters have now taken up chanting barmy army style
'Everywhere we go'
'People want to know'
'who are we'
'where do we come from'
blah blah
'go Freo go, go Freo go'

I agree, Seppo needs to think of something original!

They also do the Melbourne Victory chant and jump up and down.
Original bunch they are.

Great, soon I will be singing along to their freo song...last year, I was invited to a BBQ and everyone was watching freo vs Sydney in the prelim I think anyway then their song was played over and over again!!!! Couldn't get it out of my head for days!!!!

That was some other bloke from our cheersquad that started that chant, not me. Although I did start a "are you Melbourne in disguise" chant that the loacls didnt like :)

Yeah collingwood were awful but freo were impressive - a 10+ goal win on the road over a finals contender is no mean feat

Sandi was good giving a nicely operating midfield of fyfe, mundy and Barlow et al. Crowley shutting down pendlebury, mcpharlin doing the same to cloke. Pav was a target and Walters and Ballantine were dangerous at ground level

Bear in mind that freo aren't up and running at full speed yet and they're in good shape sadly

Have to give respect to Freo. Anybody coming up against the ferals is a friend of mine.

Pansting them in Melbourne is even funnier. If only balantyne done a Jeff Farmer esq celebration to the crowd after he kicked a goal.

Worst thing is we now have to listen to everyone fapping about their performance over the next week. Funny how they don't whinge as much about the media now that they're not a complete rabble...

They've got to slip a sponsor into their chants to get cred round here!

I was thinking it bodes well for us too. We beat that mob twice already! Should put money on us for the flag.

Well that's how I consoled myself, because watching the Dockers flog anyone is not how I want to spend Friday night. Ever.

Nathan Buckley is a terrible coach.

With their midfield + spine they should be a much better team. They're still sticking to going down the flanks.

I was just thinking that maybe we have a chance against them now in Melbourne.

If we can break even in the midfield, then we will be a good chance against them. Our forward line trumps theirs and I rate our defenders more. The home ground factor will be an issue but I'll be there in my blue and gold

In Vic it's about how bad the Pies were, win/win!
