Tipped Essendon with confidence. Been bemused by David King (Pretty sure its him) saying the Kangaroos are now a complete side with the addition of Dal Santo. Looked at the team they named and just couldnt see it.

Not a lot of quality / depth in their talks

Why am I not surprised...feel like a fool for getting sucked in to choosing Norf tonight!!! Grrr...

Chappy killing it tonight...

My thoughts exactly! I had Essendon then changed it two days ago after some Bombers fans started tipping the 'roos.

Norf were absolutely horrendous when they had the ball in their forward half, save for Thomas. Slow and unresponsive around the ball too, although Essendon looked very comfortable there so perhaps they'll do well this season.

The win was capped off by a dominant performance in front of the media by Thompson. He was entertaining.

Norf's tactic of only playing one ruckman is hurting them, they need a Currie or someone similar to support Goldstein because they are just running him into the ground by the end of each game.

Meltdown from some of the Norf posters already.

Lol
I left at half time. It was plain as day that was going to be an 8 goal loss.

Watching Watson wander where he wanted to made me sick.

This team is going nowhere. At stages last year I felt my mental health was at risk as a supporter. Im not exaggerating.

After tonight's nothing effort, Im done for a while. Ive never left a game early.

Essendons Howlett has become a very good goal kicking mid these days.

Pretty good for a Peel rookie.

Never trust David King.

For one thing, he left us out of the 8. Maclure, however, seems to have his head screwed on.

Disappointed that North couldn't hand that dirty mob a good round one set-back, but then Essendon have been March, April and May Premiers for a long while now.

Hmm, perhaps you've never heard him give his pre-game analysis for teams on ABC Radio.
Very simple with statements like "no doubt about it" prevalent (most of the time when he says that I know I'm going to disagree with him).
Why this insist with putting Gerard Whateley with buffoons is beyond me.

It's the same logic that was applied to WC going into 2013. Good side + quality player (Wellingham) + "natural progression of youth" = complete.

Pretty amateurish assessment.

We get caught in it every year though.
This year Buddy was the stand-out selection to make the team much better.
However, the ebbs and flows of a footballing club are less predictable than that.
A team can be up-heaved by key injuries, lack of progression, off-field instability, general lack of professionalism within the playing group, inability to adhere to the team strategies etc....
And, as with Geelong in 2007 it can be players who improve exponentially in the group that make a massive difference.
People try to simplify these dynamics and nearly always end up with egg on their faces.

I should note that the comment was implicitly tied to the reference to David King's Top 8; i.e., he has his head screwed on because his top 8, unlike King's, listed us in it ;)

And I'm saying that doesn't bode well for us.
I don't think there is really a basis to say that it doesn't bode well. Either he's an idiot and our presence or absence is randomised and simply bears little resemblance to our actual odds, or, less likely, he's on the money.

Either way, not something to worry about the omens thereof.

In tonight's presser I'm pretty sure I saw Brad Scott actually shit his pants at the thought he might have to play Currie instead of Goldstein next week.
