One of my mates was almost as good but didnt work as hard at it and had no intention of going on with it. I'm certain he could have had a crack at AFL if he set his mind to it but he had other interests

The lifestyle of an AFL footballer might seem like the be all and end all but it sure as its drawbacks. If Garlett has decided it's not for him then that's his choice. Good luck to him whatever he decides to do

Since he also cites his age as an issue, he could have a change of heart about not wanting to commit to the routine and be independent from his family once he gets a bit older and more mature. Wouldn't mind recruiting him in a few years as long as we see signs of him being serious about pursuing an AFL career, it would certainly be his last chance.

It's sounds like from a few in the know on the Hawks board that the decision may not have been just Dayles.

Apparently the club had given him strict instructions of what he could do while back in W.A.

From the sounds of it perhaps the club got some new that Dayle didn't carry out those instructions.
