Have always wondered if there are many players that have a fear of flying since you pretty much will be on a plane almost every second week.

Yep, on his day can tear apart a game but doesn't put in anywhere near the work to achieve it.

Glad we dodged a bullet and didn't go after him.

He's never even looked like being a good player. I don't know why people always expect him to improve. I don't buy into this "if he wasn't lazy, he'd be good" crap. He's just a really, really average footballer and I was stoked when Freo signed him.

He's always shown glimpses though, games or even a patch of them in a row where he'd dominate and you think whoah he might actually live up to his high draft pick status. You get the feeling Watts is heading down the same track.

Watts is the sort of player I'd expect to do well at a good and well coached club. If he played for Sydney, Fremantle or Hawthorn for example he'd be up there IMO with some of the great players his age.

Watts lacks mongrel. Doesn't have that intense competitive instinct that the best players have

He's a better version of Andrew McDougall

Bloke couldnt even get touches in the WAFL a couple of weeks ago. Star recruiting the Dockers yet again.

Because he's spent his whole career at a soft club with average coaching staff and not many on field leaders.

What I said above for Watts could go for all sorts of players that play at Melbourne.

I've always wondered the same thing about Jack Trengove. Showed a lot of promise in his first 2 years, but looks absolutely toasted now. Not sure if they picked the wrong guy at 2 or whether they screwed up his development but the guy seems barely AFL standard.

edit: Just noticed he got dropped to the VFL last week and isn't picked in the seniors for this weekend.

In retrospect though Cunnington was the pick of the top 10 IMO.

I didn't see it. He always lacked any outstanding attributes and was always a mid sized, work horse or desperado. People consistently overstate the importance of state league performances as well. Even Coniglio who i'd consider immensely more talented than Trengove has struggled to adjust to the speed of AFL.

Melbourne have lacked any intent when it comes to their own picks. Have let consensus decide.

For some reason they play Subi really well. They nearlly rolled Fremantle there couple of weeks earlier.
