Players who drop the ball in tackles are now getting free kicks for holding the man after they drop it. Fyfe is on for 20+ free kicks this week if it's the flavour of the round for the umpires.

Pretty sure Birchall hand balled that. I am so confused what constitutes holding the ball this season.

There was one free to the swans where Matthews said one umpire called playon the other blew the whistle

That's a problem. So inconsistent

Makes you wonder how many of the players we have brought in over the past few years would get a game in the top sides.

Fair enough it's a good idea to bring in guys that are being undervalued at their club or squeezed out because of a glut of their types in their previous sides, but some of the guys we have traded in have been fringe players/discards from already weak clubs.

How many of the guys we've brought into the squad from other clubs over the past 3 years would get a game for Sydney or Hawthorn tonight? Or any of the sides that look like contending this year?

We kinda do need a rebuild of sorts when you consider how substandard so many of our players are

Some of the fringe players for both sides would like average playing for a lesser quality side

Goes both ways

Well I guess the question is why do we have them in our team? Why did we trade for Hill, Cripps and Sharrod? Surely we can ascertain by now that Cripps is never going to be anything more than a fringe player in an average side.

Hutchings likewise. Surely there was a better option. Surely a third/fourth round pick is better used on a high risk/high reward player like a skinny crumber or something rather than a vanilla mid who is likely to perform reliably but at a level that will never be good enough for a flag side.
