I feel sick saying this but If worse came to worse I'd rather Freo win it than Sydney this year.

Obviously I don't expect many other Eagles to feel that way but I'm born, raised and spent most of my life in Sydney. I never minded them too much but when a team is able to recruit the best key forward in the land and another who in in the top ten or so despite the "equalisation measures" and salary cap in place it starts to leave a sour taste in the mouth.

That being said I'd take any one of other top teams over those two. Port would be a great story and despite having an irrational hate towards them for their entire existence until last year - I think it was the boring colours, shit song, and generally lacking any personality - I have come to find them as one of the most entertaining teams to watch of the past 20 or so years.
I'd still rather Sydney win it tbh

The fact Armfield got points for his strike on the weekend, and Harvey got nothing for his on Selwood is laughable.

Also, Hannebery out for a month means he misses our game. Wont help us win, but might mitigate our loss a bit.

We very very rarely make comment on non eagles issues. For cransberg to give such a public whack on another club shows how pissed off the other clubs must be with essendon.

I haven't heard Cransberg talk at all, even about his own club, in probably 2 years. :D

Unlike us to do it, shows where the opinion of the club leaders sits.

When Paul Little is trying to claim that they have the wider footy community support, Im glad its the leaders of the other clubs saying **** off.

Of course the only people buy who seem to buy it are the herald sun journos in particular Jon Ralph who trotted out the Essendon spin the other night on fox footy. Im surprised he even knew about it, he's only just finished watching Stenglein retire

We got r*ped by the AFL over recreational drug use by 1-2 players, yet they are playing the victims over systematic doping/cheating. What a ****ing shit hole joke of a scum **** club. Hope they get roasted for this. I would be pissed if I was Cransberg, good on him for calling out their shit.

****. Everything is falling in place for Freo to finish top 4.

Got a bad feeling we'll be spending another GF week putting up with bandwagoners and praying that the purple ****s lose.
I've seen enough to realise that Freo have no chance of winning a flag under Ross Lyon.

That's a huge call, they were the second best side last year.
Is it really? I think this year is their last chance in this window. Port and Sydney have cruised past them this year, and I still think Hawthorn are the benchmark (my tip for the flag). Freo may finish top four, but they'll lose to Sydney or Port in the first week, then face a Collingwood or Geelong at home, which they aren't guaranteed to win, followed by another trip to Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne.

Also, my man Cranners delivering some verbal jabs at the Bombers is great. Well overdue and certainly the fact that the eagles are very careful to enter public debate (Note our non-existent comment on Equalisation, probably because we were one of the scumbags who helped the bigger clubs get their way to an extent), means it has a more marked impact than normal.

The Kool-aid is strong at Essendon

Enjoy the ride HTB, you're going to be devastated when it finishes.:hearts: I reckon we'll go even further and seek to have our fine paid back and draft concessions to replace picks lost. As for compo for our finals series? You can't put a price on it, the AFL will have to work extremely hard to keep us happy.

I've done predictor and I had Fremantle sneaking into second... two home finals means they'll make the GF at the very least.

Hopefully they lose to either Hawks at home or Geelong away to snuff that chance away, though. They cannot lose another game under my predictor; and how could you go against a team on a ten game winning streak if they happen to make it?

Fremantle make the GF and lose narrowly. The next year, poor list management means too many of their key players are old and not up to scratch, exposing the mediocre middle of their best 22 and they're no certainty for a top 4 spot. They elect to delay negotiations on extending Lyon's contract until after the season. A day after they lose their semi-final, Richmond announce Ross Lyon as their new coach, to the surprise of Damien Hardwick and Fremantle. Richmond become one of the most boring teams to watch, a Fremantle appoint a WAFL plodder as coach and try to squeeze one more tilt at the flag out of their list, but end up missing the eight and having to rebuild.

Geelong away for them will be the key to it all. I expect them to deal with Hawthorn at home, and their game against Port they will win if Port have top 2 sewn up and send their B team over in preparation for finals.

Particularly when it's only 1/2 year(s) after winning a premiership AND they managed to offer more than the two new clubs who were given extra bucks specifically to recruit such players.
