I thought we were much better in the clearances than West Coast today. Pretty soft tackling effort from them today too.
Yeah this. On current form, we should smash them in the clearances - but will that be enough? Nearly always it is, but last couple of games have shown that we can't seem to convert midfield dominance or competitiveness into goals. It's doing my head in because that's a rare thing in modern footy - to be strong in the contested ball and not win games.

I'm not sure it will be enough either. I think we will win the clearances and contested ball next week but it all comes down to organisation. Their play looks a bit more structured than ours at the moment.

Yeah, agree. They actually spread quite well and have a bit of pace about them. It's that sort of thing which is hurting us at the moment.

But I still would back us to win if we can just tweak things a touch. Nice long 9 day break. Balla in, a bit smarter with ball in hand, assuming everything else goes OK. I can see us bouncing back with a win because when push comes to shove, they are soft in the contest as you posted earlier and we'll get our chances.

At times like this I am reminded of the comments of a very wise old Collingwood fan interviewed in The Bulletin magazine a number of years ago - "I hate Carlton. If they get beat and we get beat, I don't care" - which in my own way I have adapted with the Eagles as a personal mantra to get me through the hard times over the years.

That was immensely satisfying, even though I care for Carlton and Mick about as much as I do WCE. Of course, it really was kamikaze stuff by the Blues that wouldn't stand up to any disciplined defending and pressure, but it sure was thrilling to watch. Particularly gratifying was seeing Naitanui actually lose the game for them by gifting Carlton all that momentum at centre clearances through a series of silly free kicks.

On a serious note, do they put something in the tea in the WCE coaches' box? Simpson looks about as animated and engaged as Woosha did! OK, we can't all act like Mick or Brad Scott, but still...

It does set up a tantalising derby next week with a lot at stake. We're probably about due for a belter, given that the last classic was the Ballantyne kick after the siren.

should beat the dockers easily

good to see supporters celebrating the only thing the dockers have ever had to celebrate....Eagles losing:oops:
What a shock, a delusional egirls fan has made his way onto our page. Wouldn't of thought either team would be confident going into this match, don't see the point in insulting one another as we're as shit as each other at the moment.

Damn, I missed the WCE fans comments. Would have been hilarious I'm sure.

I confidently picked Carlton for a reason last night. I had an email from a mate (Eagle) laughing at my pick halfway through the fourth.

We have been playing bog ordinary football the last few weeks, they have been playing to their ability. We should beat them but our form and what seems to be a little ripple in the club with the suspensions and other issues concerns me.

just as you did in you non eagles thread last week.

Must be hard for you now you're banned from the main board thanks to your Fremantle obsession.

Hypocrite.

I think your own board needs you, they are burning an effigy of Matt Priddis on there at the moment.
