How the MRP came up with the below assessment for Clint Young on chappy is beyond me, given chappy in the semi final was gauged as reckless for allegedly having his feet off the ground. Young clearly left the ground... Also when Young bumped chappy he was clearly dazed and down for a while, they have deemed it low impact. They also deemed chappies bump on Gray as low impact although Gray got straight up! Probably should move on but f#$k the MRP sh1t me, also Gibson got off, heaven forbid if one of our players done that!

Clinton Young, Collingwood, has been charged with a Level One Engaging in Rough Conduct Offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Paul Chapman, Essendon, during the third quarter of the Round Six match between Collingwood and Essendon, played at the MCG on Friday April 25, 2014.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Essendon Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record.

You think that's bad? How did Gibson only get a week, downgraded to a reprimand, for his late hit yesterday? Oh that's right, he plays for Hawthorn.

The MRP's 'Get Out of Jail Free' card gets played all the time. Negligent or Reckless, High/Med/Low impact. These decisions are where it all starts.
Several mind-boggling 'low impact' rulings where the recipients of bumps have been clearly incapacitated for some time, also other incidents have been graded as medium where the bumped player has bounced straight back up and got stuck back into the contest. One of the things that REALLY annoys me here is the scarcity of 'INTENTIONAL' gradings, where a player has clearly lined his opponent up and taken him clean out of the contest. The MRP must be a bit confused as that's OK- it's just blocking off the ball or 'in play' stuff- and we get a negligent ruling. Sheer utter crap!!!

lol so true

Many of the older high flyers would have had a field day in today's game, Snr, Modra, Capper, Barker. . . I would have loved to see Fremantle's defence drop back to try and contain those kind of jumpers who not only had the quickest first step in the history of the game but they didn't let a poor game get in the way of their confidence to fly for those high marks whereas today's forwards, they lose confidence early on in and then become completely redundant and any attempt to try and take a pack mark is suddenly out of the question.
Capper could be held quiet on the scoreboard for a half, 3 quarters but he'd still be jumping at everything that came his way and with today's rules and interpretations. . . blocking off the ball, chopping the arm, holding the jumper, he'd have slot 10 goals just as he says (maybe not 10 but more like 5) :D

Just out of curiosity, do you think Hawkins should have got off of his hit to Langford's bread basket? That was behind play which you would consider worse than slightly late in play...

I wish I could post like this on your board
I don't think Hawkins should have gotten anything for his hit on Lagnford. I also don't think Gibson should have gotten anything. Just wondering what the reasoning is for one guy to get suspended for something and another guy not to other than being the supporter of one of those players

Hawkins used a straight arm while shepherding Langford out of the way, it obviously got the prick in the right spot and he had to go off the ground whereas Gibson's attempt to spoil was clumsy at best. Neither deserved suspension but Billie Smedts copped the exact same punishment as what Gibson did so I think it's a fair outcome considering how well your mob have been looked after recently by the MRP.
My gripe is with Winty saying Gibson was lucky to get a week down to a reprimand. As for us being looked after at the match review panel, im not even going to take the bait

yeh I saw the incident and seriously, absolutely nothing in it and it's why footy is becoming pathetic today when you get blokes going the footy and accidentally hit the opponent and then have the MRP look over it. I know it's a transition period we are currently going through and will be use to it in a decades time but boy! MRP is a rotten stinking joke right now and they are literally costing teams potential wins by suspending certain players and allowing others to play for similar incidents.

Completely agree mate, can't stand how inconsistent they are and to think they started out pretty well in the first round this year

yeh, seemed to be going well and I think we all thought this was going to be good but something shifted dramatically so whether they are keeping tabs on all the legal happenings going on in the USA in regards to the head/concussion/NFL etc, who knows. They are obviously covering their arses for the future at the expense of what our great game has always been about.
(then again, it's not my head that is copping a whack every weekend as the players do, so easy to say that sitting behind the fence)

Yeah, one bloke collects Chappy incidentally to actually grabbing the ball, and the other one whacks the bloke with a cheap shot when he sees he can't get the ball.
And they are effectively treated the same.
The MRP members don't know how to do their jobs.
Sack them.

Next week the same clowns will stand up and justify a suspension based on there was potential for injury or there was no conclusive video evidence but we think he did it as in the past against no other than our skipper.Brotherly love and what did you say Goo .

Draw verdicts and weeks out of a hat perhaps?
40 stuffed chickens in a barrel. Host comes in a spins it. Draws one out. Little bloke with dark hair and a little blue schoolboy hat with a head on broomstick makes a smart arse comment and the penalty is read out.

Think its been done before but the level of consistency and seriousness fits…
