End of H&A season - 1st or 2nd

After Finals - Premiers. (Even though we will have to play the final against Sydney in the SCG with only 1000 Freo tickets available because DemetreFatHead says we wont pull a crowd.)

Doig Medal - Fyfe

Leading Goalkicker - Pavlich - wins the coleman

Most improved - Z Clarke - to become one of the dominant ruckmen in the comp

If we lose again in the Grand Final I will bawl like a baby and hibernate all summer. I surprisingly handled our loss quite well (was expecting tears) this year but another GF defeat would kill me.

Anyway my predictions:

End of H&A season - 1st or 2nd

After Finals - Premiers against Sydney (can't really see any other team playing in the GF at this stage apart from us, Sydney and Hawthorn)

Doig Medal - Fyfe again.

Leading Goalkicker - Walters

Most improved - Suban... which is my tip every year and he has been steadily improving but I really, really think next year will be his year. I hope so anyway! Zac Clarke as well and Lachie Neale to continue to improve and permanently lock himself in our best 22.

End of H&A season - 2nd (Hawthorn 1st)

After Finals - Premiers, Hawthorn runners up (or Sydney)

Doig Medal - Mundy

Leading Goalkicker - Walters

Most improved - Gumbleton

End of H&A season - 1st

Doig Medal - Fyfe

Most improved - Crozier

Other -
Pav, Sandi and McPharlin all retire at the end of the year.
Demetriou 'resigns for family reasons'.
Thompson keeps the job at the bombers.
Geelong miss out on finals.

We don't just want a premiership. We need a premiership and this should be our year. How good would it be for the club, players and long suffering supporters as well as WA footy and the City of Fremantle buzzing with more excitement than the America's Cup win. Can taste it in my mouth. Goosebumps. Bring it home Dockers 2014!

1st after H/A (20-2), will probs be the stand out team all year, burning desire to amend this year from all staff and players, will win the flag IMO.

I hope not :(

I'd take that. Are you bold enough to say the 2 losses will be in the derbies? :D

End of H&A season - 2nd (18-4)

After Finals - Premiers. I'll be positive for once in my life.

Doig Medal - Fyfe has got 1, like Pav he'll win a lot more.

Leading Goalkicker - Mayne, just ahead of Pav

Most improved - On Grand Final day the most improved will be Ballas. Mora playing at all during the season will be an improvement.

Beacon Award- This is the tough one, you just never know how the younger players will go. I'll update this one later in the pre season.

Explanation - We're right in the middle of the so called Premiership window, our side is good enough to get the job done, we've improved our squad depth so even if the older players like Pav, Sandi, McPharlin, etc again miss significant match time I'm confident the second tier players will step up and cover the load.

End of H&A Season - 1st or 2nd

After Finals - Premiers

Doig Medal - Fyfe

Leading Goal Kicker - Pavlich (40-50 goals)

If the Hawks can't win it (I think we are a decent show) then I really hope you guys win it.

A lot of things have to go right to win a Premiership but you guys will have the hunger but as Clarkson says concentrate on a top 4 spot first.

Having spent some time in Perth I know what Freo fans have to put up with from the WCE and the media.

Good luck for season 2014.

Guys guys guys (and girls)
One week at a time ok? Anywhere, anytime.. No need for hypotheticals.

Just quietly:
Minimum: Top 4 (Top 2 being the ultimate goal)
Fyfe to dominate.
Lachie Neale to be our 'unexpected' bolter.. Will be a gun.

I expected a significant proportion of us to tip Freo to win the flag, but 68% of the votes is a little over confident in my book.

I will be interested to see the reaction on these boards if we don't meet these lofty expectations.

I felt like I'd be betraying the faith expected from a supporter if I voted anything else, but it's not like I'll be calling for heads to roll if we don't manage to snare the flag.

My predictions...

End of H&A season - 2nd

After Finals - Runners up. (Sydney premiers)

Doig Medal - N Fyfe

Leading Goalkicker - M Pavlich

Most improved - L Neale

Beacon Award- J Simpson

Explanation - I reckon Ross will have Freo playing more consistent footy than any other team in the comp. I can't see us losing to the bottom 12 sides at any point next year and there isn't a single H&A game that's not winnable. We're a chance to beat the Hawks at the 'G, just as we are a chance to win in Sydney and at Kardinia Park. However, at the pointy end of the season, I reckon you need your A Graders Fit and Firing if you want to bring home the cup and with Johnno, Mundy, Luke, Pav and Sandi all being a year older, I'd put money on a couple of them being missing in September. I reckon Sydney will be hot at the right time next year, so I'm backing them to raise the cup.

What do yous all reckon?

Interesting Prediction, but here is mine...

My predictions...

End of H&A season - 5th (15 wins and 7 losses) 107.5%

After Finals - Semi finals (Collingwood or Hawks premiers)

Doig Medal - Michael Barlow

Leading Goalkicker - Chris Mayne with 39 goals.

Most improved - Clancee Pearce

Beacon Award- Alex Pearce

Explanation - I reckon it will be a tough slog, But I reckon Freo will narrowly miss the top 4 by %. If your wondering why I think freo will finish out of the top 4 is the fact that history shows its hard to back it up after making a grand final and some teams have soft draws and jump up the ladder (see the crows in 2012). There is going to be a bloody log jam from 3rd to 6th in 2014. Going by the ladder in the last 2 years... Richmond in 2013 and Geelong in 2012, both finished out side the top 4 with 15 wins and both lost. The 5 teams freo have Twice are Hawks, cats, eagles, Port and Brisbane. Freo should easily get 5 of those wins minimum.

I tip freo to do the double over the Lions, Port and West coast, Lose to the hawks twice and beat geelong once (most likely at subi). As expected, like the 2013 and 2012 seasons previoiusly, the 1st half of the seasons draw will be tough. The 2nd half will be better despite facing the hawks and cats and Port close to the finals. I wont be suprised if freo lose to collingwood or the tigers again in Victoria.

If your wondering why I tipped Mayne to be our Leading goal kicker with 39 goals, its simply because Freo have a balanced structure in the forward line. Pav, Ballas, Walters, Gumbleton will all kick 30-35 goals each.

Im tipping Pav and Gumby will both play 15 games each and both kick 35 goals each. Apeness, Alex Pearce, Taberner will play a few games If Pav and Gumby get injured. Tanner Smith will play another 4-5 games if either Johnson, Dawson or Mcpharlin are injured for a month, which likely to happen.

As for the finals, Freo should beat the 8th placed side, Im tipping either North, Port or Carlton by 4-6 goals then lose to the hawks/collingwood/Tigers in the MCG in the semis.

End of H&A : 1st (18 - 20 wins)

After Finals : Premiers (Sydney Runners up)

Doig Medallist : Michael Barlow (runner up Nathan Fyfe)

Leading Goalkicker : Hayden Ballantyne (something about him says he will spark in 2014)

Most Improved : Lachie Neale

Beacon Award : Brady Grey

I think with losing the Grand Final against Hawthorn in 2013 we will be fighting to get nearer and nearer to the Premiership cup in 2014. There is a rumour going around that some of the Fremantle boys have made a pact to try their guts out in 2014 and hit the pre-season harder than ever because as Ross Lyon says it's not what you do within the season its what you do at the start of it in the pre-season.

Why Freomaniac your predictions don't make sense why do you think you'll lose to Geelong in Geelong?

Read my posts clearly from above...

My team Just made the grand final, it is hard to do it again in 2014. Look at west coast in 2011. They made the top 4 relying on the old guard (Embley, Kerr, Cox, Glass and Lynch). Narrowly missed out on the top 4 again in 2012 and fell off in 2013.

For some reason, Freo usually travels to Geelongistan with an underdone side. Freo got belted by 7 goals in the middle of the year with 2 of our 3 best mids out. Come finals, freo had a near full squad to choose.

Also for some reason freo do drop the occasion game outside of WA as well.
