You sure you aren't playing 18 games? Should be this I thought. Byes and all. Not sure what the powers can do about clubs that are like economists - pull (player) figures out of their arse to try and create an end that suits them. Unfortunately you could run with an original fixture but it then becomes a situation where a forfeit is as good as a bye as well.

I hear robina lost all there players after last year and they have had no new recruits it could be a long year down at Scottsdale drive can you confirm BrotherofChunk???
Hey Shaq sorry about the late reply

Has been a bit of turn over at robina - probably the biggest news is about a dozen boys are now single and footy training appears a distant second to tinder at the moment.

Boys had a first hit out on the weekend and got through without any major injuries I believe.

But going on up ur way I hear!

2014 Ladder predictions

1. Burleigh
2. Springwood
3 Cooparoo
4. Coolangatta
5. Robina
6. yeronga
7. coomera
8. Alex Hills
9. Kenmore

Will be a very even comp ! On paper Burleigh and springwood are the clear stand outs , it is hard trying to do at ladder when you don't know the ins and outs at each club , it would be good to have one poster from each club , I reckon if your reading this thread and no one has posted from your club then then join up !!

Great day of footy at Fishermans Rd on Saturday. 4 teams staged a Rd robin Carnival and played each other in 2 x 2o min halves. Nambour, Kenmore, Cooparoo and Mdore participated with about 170 players all up with Kenmore bringing up 62 alone! Not usually a big fan of Rd robin, but with Mdore having the luxury of having 3 quality ovals, it allowed for games to be run simultaneously and therefore no extended breaks waiting for games to finish. It was 1st hit out for all teams and they were all happy just to front up against an opposition. Hard to gauge to much from it with each team playing different squads against different opposition, but would think both Kenmore and Cooparoo will manage to put together a decent Senior squad from their lists. Didn't see much of Nambour, but they have a good coach and a great pick up in ex Noosa star Owen bailey.
Some interesting practice matches coming up this week with Caloundra playing Noosa. Lots of talk in pre season about Caloundra's pick ups and Noosa were well beaten by Surfers last week. Anyone know how Caloundra went against Sandgate last week? Maroochydore up against Aspley at Maroochydore. Lots of unknowns at this time of year and really wont be until after each team has played each other that we will get a better idea.

Burleigh didn't win a game last year, they are coming from a long way back. Not sure 3 recruits, as good as they are will see them climb to the top of the ladder!

Good point but they were playing in a much better comp the step up last year between PHC and state association was pretty obvious , use UQ as an example went from losing 2 games in 2 years to only winning 3-4 last year in the PHC and there lost actually got stronger, that's my reasoning in putting not only Burleigh 2 but all the PHC teams in the Top 4

Don't under estimate Kenmore, massive numbers. They have picked up Corrie and about another 8 Magpie players

Smy1305 and lenny29 thanks for the information , was completing unaware of any news over at kenmore, Corrie is a handy pick up hopefuly he is picking pockets at Kenmore , is plumber back ? I think it's hard to pick a ladder based on past seasons , that's why I gave it a crack anyone else care too ?? So if Corrie is playing , that makes it 4 Past AFL players in this comp Corrie Notting , Proud and hooper , good for the league Imo

Is there actually an audited salary cap of sorts in this league - I mean don't get me wrong I'm sure Lovett is up here for the love of the game.... From what I was told he was on about 1100 a game in vic last year so would think as great as it is for the comp to have a player like that he'd be commanding a fair sum!

Robina have a practice match against surfers this week - will get a better idea of who is about from there. Only real confirmed loss is billy Jackson to yeronga.

Yeronga have picked up at least a cpl of quality players in billy and pbc premiership ruckman sheggog. Unfortunately a few of them will sit out a cpl of weeks for social media abuse with some up to 6 months.

Lenny - if I may ask how's retention been from ur 22 that played gf day? Will both hooper and proud go around in this comp? Surely if uve retained 15ish of a side that played allied Pickford cup gf then if be very short priced in this comp!

Swoopa - hearing good numbers at dreamworld - have u boys had a hit out yet?

That should give us a cpl of things to discuss!!

Heard on the weekend Proud may be on the run from the boys in blue! Doesn't seem like a very solid citizen to me and not necessarily someone you want in your club. Unfortunately clubs get caught up in the "He's played AFL" mindset and don't see past that. Having said that Springwood seem they like they have tried doing the right thing by giving him a career and getting him on the straight and narrow, but sometimes history and wrongdoings catch up with you.

From Springwood GF team last year they have lost probably 10 (some of those fringe players), but in the meantime picked up 5 or 6 very good recruits from Redlands and Beenleigh. They will be very handy in this competition. Hooper and Proud have both been training well, Proud in particular looks in good nick and very enthusiastic. Don't know anything about rumours regarding the boys in blue on his tail all I know is he is very keen, even joined in last night with some drills with the 18s and the boys loved it!!.

Hey BOC- here I was trying to fly under the radar and watch the goss fly in ha ha

Numbers have been fairly solid, held up by a lot of under 18s, some new blood, and us old blokes who won't take the hint! :D

We are/were hoping for a Div 4 side but we want to focus on youth and hard to get a gauge on numbers with guys popping in and out.

We have had a couple of hit outs (Park Ridge and Caloundra), and have Kenmore this weekend.

Some good signs, but yet to have our 22 best in either grade. We have a fantastic coaching panel setup, and hopefully the cattle can get them some results. Coming up against Springwood in Rd 1 will be a great test for our club, who was in Div 4 only 4 years back.

Bring back Friday Night footy I say!!!

How'd you boys go yesterday
We had a great hitout against the Bears, with both games played in great spirit.

After a slow start the Ressies just fell short by a kick. Kenmore were a very good outfit who moved the ball well through their top players. We only had around 5 players from last years Grand Final team in the 2s so it was good for us to play well as a unit.

Still some boys to return, which I'm sure is the same for all teams.

I can't report on the senior game as I had to duck off early to watch the Benny Hill Show that the Tigers put on at Metricon! By all reports it was a close contest.

Bit of an update from Scottsdale drive.

Boys had a good hit out against surfers on the weekend. Surfers had about a dozen blokes back up and play both games which probably didn't help but our boys played some decent footy to get over the line. Not sure where surfers are at this year - hard to gauge who was missing as is a practise game but would think based on who we didn't play they would want to have had a lot out.

Intra club last night to top off preparations - weekend off and then into next week against cooly.

2 confirmed losses of billy and another guy who has done an acl but in pretty similar shape to last year list wise.

On the grapevine I heard Lovett may have already done a runner from burleigh - anyone else hearing similar?

if this is true that means he's been to 5 different clubs in 2 years

So anyone brave enough to make a wild prediction for the year outside the mighty Vikings taking out the central div.... I'm going to say wise will be the best player in the comp, coomera and cooli to really struggle and I'm going for the revenge teams to play off the granny springwood vs robina
