Draft Review 2014 - Redo the 2014 AFL Draft

Pretty much all great sides have a great CHB. Jackovich, Leppitsch, Scarlett/Taylor, Lake/Gibson, etc.

In all the j#zz around the Brownlow midfield medal, and forwards and goal kickers (fair enough hype to some degree), reckon a gun CHB is as important as a gun CHF or midfielder for their ability to influence a game.
Rance/Grimes

All the plays listed are role players and not key components of the side
Suggest you take a closer look at Lambert Horse. Only reason he doesn't get the plaudits is because Dusty, Cotch, Rance, Jack, Lynch and Grimes are A graders. Very, very good player. His b+f record is awesome.

It's still funny. Nowhere near the top 10 players.
Sits comfortably among them imo. Particularly the 6-10 group. Toby McLean ? C'mon. Anyway I'm sure Lambo is pretty happy going under the radar although his medals probably clink and give him away. The original query was based on his output and how many of those in that top 10 have finished Top 3 (twice) in b+f in Top 4 sides?

4 guys from the same rookie draft playing in the same Flag team...That has got to be the greatest rookie draft ever. (The other player we picked, Matthew Arnot, must be kicking himself)

We had a tonne of ex-rookies playing in the 2016 flag (about 7-8 I think?) but I doubt there was any more than 2 from the same draft. 4 from the same draft is madness.

At this point wouldn't take De Goey over Andrews

1. Andrews
2. De Goey
3. Heeney
4. Moore
5. Lever
6. Brayshaw
7. Steele
8. Maynard
9. Miller
10. Daniel

Very, very, shallow draft

Just a question Warhorse. Do you see Mitch Duncan as a role player, as Lambert and Duncan are very similar and play pretty much the same role?
Duncan is a fair way ahead of Lambert

They don't play the same role, and Duncan at his best is arguably the best wingman in the league.

Maynard is nice HBFer but seriously?

How can there be 20 places between he and Connor McKenna?

Maynard is one of the few HBF that can actually defend in both the air and on the ground, as well as attack, has far more aggression and edge to his game, and has scope with his size and ability to play in the middle too that McKenna honestly doesn't have.

Maynard has done more so far, and projects to be a better player going forward, too.

the jumpers that they wear obviously

Man this just biased crap. AFL player rating have Connor McKenna as top 10 small/medium defender in the league. Maynard scrapes in at 40. I’m not arguing that McKenna is better (I personally think he is but who cares) I’m just pointing out that having Maynard at 6 is ******* hilariously biased.

Maynard is a Very Underrated Player

Now that's crap.

Shows how much everyone overrates running bounces from non-key defenders, and underrates actual defense TBH.

Would Ambrosia wasn't an Essendon supporter, would they give a s**t where I ranked McKenna?

Usually I'd agree but 6th best player in this draft is laughable

Two out of 63 "wrong" is a pretty decent strike rate.

Feel free to post your full list, too, BTW. Inb4 "can't be bothered, but still willing to sit back and pick apart your choices instead".

Goes to show what a pretty ordinary draft this was. I would have:
1. Heeney
2. Andrews
3. De Goey

After that you would want to trade for future picks or established players as there isn't really another player worth a top 10 pick.

I had Heeney first as I reckon he is a gun in all parts of the ground. He is also a leader and will take the team with him.
Andrews is the best young key back in the comp, better than Rance at the same age.
De Goey is not consistent enough at the moment but his best is better than any of them. Needs to build up his tank and spend more time in the midfield to become truly special.

Why would it be a piss take?
He's a talent but he's not Alex Rance.

Even if i didn't support Collingwood i'd still take JDG first.
you lost me at Collingwood

You lost it on the night you chose Petracca + Brayshaw with back to back picks.
you lost the discussion when you started talking like i drafted the Melbourne players.

Even if one of those players bas been the only player in this draft to finish top 3 in a brownlow

How is Brayshaw a bad pick? Top 3 Brownlow finish at a very young age, then had a down season this year after being forced onto the wing and having to play more outside when he's clearly an inside player
