Not sure we'd be after Hallahan.

I guess one can put up an argument for half of the players playing AFL but a Hallahan seems like the least likely type we'd need.
Mclean, Carazzo, Robinson will be likely to be pushed out over the coming seasons. Our inside mid depth pales in comparison to the Hawks, Freo's and Sydney's.

You'd have to offer the equivalent of two first rd picks for that I reckon.
1st+ 2nd pick and Watson for Shiel and Tomlinson.

Our 2nd is practically a first if we finish that low.

Both gain plenty.

Or our first pick for Tomlinson and O'Rourke?

Then I'd be inclined to trade in a second rounder. Maybe for a Garlett or someone else worth a 2nd rounder.

Garlett is uncontracted. Wouldn't be worth much at the trade table.

Edit: Warnock would be worth a 2nd to a contender easily.

Dominant tap ruck men are great during finals.

Who knows who we may lose on the senior list though and a couple of promotions may not be totally out of the question.
We seem to play hardball on rookies and only upgrade them to senior list when we have stretched their rookie contracts to the max. So I don't see m(any) upgrades.

But I think you can only retain three rookies from one year to the next?

To get 2 first rd kids from GWS you'll have to offer more than 1 first pick.

Your first option sounds feasible but we won't be getting a former pick 2 (no matter how many games he's played) + Tomlinson for 1 first rounder.

I'd be extremely wary of trading out our first two picks for Shiel & Tomlinson in a draft with such good key position prospects. Granted they may be very good players but we need some serious tall timber on the list.

Tomlinson would be a very good third marking tall but we do already have Everitt who could play that role for us.

Everitt is not Tomlinson. One is KPP and Everitt is not.

Yeah agree about Garlett, especially as the rumours have been that his private life is at least in part contributing to his onfield woes. Clubs are reluctant to take risks with that kind of stuff. BUT if someone did take him for a song and get him back to his best, boy would they be laughing. While we spewed.

I was actually going to post that I reckon Warnock is our best bet at the trade table. If Kreuzer returns fit and firing and Cas can back him up, with Wood upgraded, Rowe another back up, and a rookie project ruckman, we are in good shape.

Warnock has gone alright this year, very well at times in fact, and would have to be on the radar for someone else, given some of the ruckmen that get games these days. Has currency.

Seeing as Everitt is 194cm & Tomlinson is 193cm, feel free to make that argument stick !!
Yep, because Everitt is tall he is automatically a key position player. He doesn't have the strength to be one.

Feel free to watch Tomlinson play before arguing your point purely on height measurements. I'm not quite sure how you can argue he is not a key position player (he is way more than a 'third tall' - it's just that GWS have the luxury of having too many KPPs so he appears to be a third tall & gets pushed up the ground due to his excellent aerobic abilities).

I'll add in this for you too, take a look at the Swans and their forward line :

Tippet - 201cm
Franklin - 198cm
Reid - 196cm

That is the benchmark right there so forget about playing someone around that 192-193cm mark in a key position role. Casboult at 199cm is the right frame (both height & weight), we need another of his ilk as a minimum.

Once again height doesn't make you a KPP.

But we should keep our first rounder and get the best possible KPF in the draft........McMartin..........Who happens to be 193cm. :)

Size doesn't always matter but class does. By the way, Roughead is 193cm tall. Someone like him would be O.K.
