If we receive a top 10 pick which looks likely would we be better off doing what Melbourne did last year and trading for a little later pick and very good promising young player? At the moment would rather two very good players than one gun.

This is hard to gauge given the strength (allegedly) of this draft compared to others as well as our position.

If Hampson, Doc, everitt are all worth around pick 30, McEvoy pick 18 or so. I would say closer to the pick 20 mark.

Late first/early second obviously the later the pick it could involve a swap of picks or a player we are interested in.

I don't post trade hypotheticals as I'm no good at it.

To the clubs that have the need for a Garlett type, he is worth a pick somewhere between 25-30, wouldn't be any earlier.

and so he shouldn't be. I get it, but people are awfully harsh on Mitch on this board
I admit I wasn't fussed if Robbo stayed or went earlier this year. But in the last 6 weeks or so Robbo has improved significantly and is the least of our problems.

As long as we all admit we are not going to get anything close to Jeffy's true value in a trade this year.

I'd be tempted to keep him IF his form issues are exclusively due to personal issues that can be resolved. If it's a general work rate issue just for the sake of it, that's a different story.

But I just keep thinking we were in a similar (although not as severe) situation with Yazz last year. And now look.

He is the most divisive player (questionably) on our list. One minute you're cheering him on for his elite attack on the ball, the very next you're cursing him for reversing his hard work and kicking it straight down the throat of the opposition. This happens roughly 10 times per game. I know he appears safe, but I wouldn't be against trading him off in a deal (any deal) below value purely to prolong my life and reduce the stress on my heart.

Sorry, I got it wrong - he's got one more year.

I'd be keen to get on the front foot and get into Ricky Henderson's ear (like the Doggies are doing).

Contract expires in 2015.
He was nearly off to Collingwood last year wasn't he?

Has he played this year?

Don't think it would hurt Collingwood too much.
Kids a good player but they have so many smalls, they can't possibly play them all.

I think Collingwood also sees more in Broomhead than they do Kennedy, although that could be wrong.
More so he's part of their stock piling of first rd picks that was lauded as genius work by Hine.

I think west coast, Adelaide and North would all be interested in garlett. I think he would be happy at Adelaide was very close to Eddie
I also think Adel will be after him and wouldn't mind parting with their 2nd pick. Im sure they would say 3rd, but common sense should prevail

Honestly I don't think we would be actively seeking Garlett as we drafted Charlie Cameron who looks to be a gun. Really though, the player of yours that I am really interested in is Troy Menzel. An SA lad and is looking like he will be an absolute gun. He hasn't re-signed yet has he? Any news on his contract?

seriously go away. and get your own players.

EDIT: upon reading this post I might have come across a little aggressive. but such is my love for menz. and he's not going to adelaide. might be good to focus on retaining your own players LEGALLY though - you then wouldn't have to go raiding everyone else.

RePete, think the Gibbs situation. :thumbsu:

Probably best not to get all greased up and no where to go this time around though.

I never got "greased up" over Gibbs. Tone can be rather hard to read from comments on an internet forum so I understand why you may feel this way.

Really though on Menzel, he is an SA lad coming towards the end of his contract and hence is going to get some attention from Crow fans, as will other SA kids in interstate teams. Just wait and see us get excited about the possibility of signing Aish up next year.

But yeah, don't get worked up when myself or others ask questions about contracts. I want information/discussion not a shitfight.
