If that's true, let him go to *.
Anderson was reporting * as the only possible destination at the same time Cooney was having a medical at North, so I have to doubt his thourtheth on this one.

He is a wheeler dealer taking advantage of the increased player power environment. That's his job and I doubt that he is twisting any of his players arms.
Depends how he structures his contracts.

Ron Joseph was lauded in his days as an agent for not taking a percentage commission.

We've been told the likes of harper, daw, Delaney have carried injuries and haven't had solid pre seasons. We can look at our potential replacement for an injured harper in garner, and the poor kid damages his hamstring. I'm not saying that it's a coaching factor. Im saying their appears to be a pattern with injuries and a reduction in the rate of development we would like to see. Tarrant would probably be the biggest injury/impaired development story going

Honestly, If I was looking in from an outsiders perspective, it kinda looks like we are topping up regardless of what scott said and almost looks like our development has severely come to hault
We are, but we are doing it responsibly. If you compare it to Lyon at St kilda, he took something crazy like 3 picks inside 30. I see us having a genuine crack 15/16, and depending if we can replace our older guys, in the following 3-4 years as well.

Same goes for every young player who gets injured.

The fact a majority of them have been injured for most of their AFL careers?
What, so these players who have played about 120, 160 and 200-odd games have "been injured for most of their AFL careers". Ummm, yeah, OK.

Not sure how that works, but I suppose you can explain it.

I mean, it's not as if you would throw in the popular "injury prone" mantra to justify bitching about the recruiting policy, is it? You'd be backing your complaint with solid facts

The debate about developing our draftees is all a bit of a mystery, probably the hardest thing to get a handle on from our vantage point. Every time delistings come around I get surprised by some of the names on other clubs' lists, having expected those kids to kick on. No different with our mob. No question Brewis is rated as one of the best in the business so we have done well with drafting, but the question of whether their development path is a good one is hard to judge. The fact that it is our middle gen (Cunners, Spitta, Goldy, JZ, LT, JMac, Ats, Black, Basti, Pig (sigh), Lachie, Mullett) that have been driving our push into contention as the support crew to our senior crew shows that we have a big pool of players who have developed pretty well to get us to this point (i.e.. preliminary final). Could and should they be more advanced that they are? Maybe, who knows. That we have 5 new kids on the block (LMac, Turner, Brown, Wood, Dumont) who look the goods suggests we aren't about to fall off the cliff and the fact that when given their chances in the seniors all have done well, suggesting that the transition to AFL level is pretty well managed. But there are still question marks over players like BMac, Garner, Harper, Jacobs, Daw who could and should make it, but the jury is still out. And then the question whether they would make it at another club. Moot point really. I think the club bringing Rowdy on board and giving Dyer a stronger hand shows they felt there is room for improvement in this area. The challenge in the coming years will be developing the kids in the VFL (ie. Dumont, Wood) rather than the AFL (i.e.. Atley, Harper) although with LMac and Turner it is clear that there is no one-pathway-fits-all policy.

Career games:

Higgins: 20 – 3- 19 – 18 – 17 – 20 – 7 – 20 – 5

Cooney: 18 – 19 – 14 – 13 – 20 – 23 – 25 – 22 – 24 – 22 – 19

Waite: 16 – 14 – 11 – 12 – 16 – 9 – 21 – 22 – 13 - 21 – 9 - 20

Waite has missed the most.

Exchange of picks would have to be part of the deal surely?

Don't bet on the picks being to our advantage Dan.

I think Harper was gone at the end of his next contract he will get an extra year to get himself right at the Doggies. I see this as a way to take some money out of the cap for next years signings, save 330-380k this year as well on a player who lets be honest here, had limited chances of playing a game.

We're not fighting it out for Jeremy Cameron here. You want the players who themselves WANT to come to North.
Even if there is a smidgen of truth to this, it rings alarm bells. Cooney has to want to come to North. If he is still thinking about it............

Yeah and all I'm saying is that it sucks tremendously for us because all of those are young developing players who have shown to display impressive skills and x factor at afl level. From majak vs nic nac tap work to harpers acceleration and dash into the forward 50

Dodoro still asking for Hartlett/Wines/Wingard, man I am going to laugh my arse off when they get nothing
Yeah, when you lose draft picks and your own players may miss games or want to leave you would think 2 draft picks is a good result.

The Ryder trade or lack thereof may go down to the wire which again makes their efforts to get Cooney a little more difficult.

The Cooney deal is just icing on the cake. If it falls through I don't think there will be tears. If it means that Harper gets a reprieve then yay. But if we get Cooney, then welcome on board and saddle up for round 1. In the lap of the gods now and either way it's not one to lose sleep over....

....but the Greenwood trade, now that's where the tears, calling out in the sleep, nightmares about black and white birds picking your eyes out, etc make for a world of suffering.....just put at end to it please....

Best I'm hoping for now:

Levi for 25 - not wrap but wishing ain't gonna make it better.

No Cooney deal. You've met the club's movers and shaker, seen the setup. If you're still not convinced I'm happy you to drive you to * myself.
