Wow, I doubt basti + our first pick would be anywhere near getting 3 and it would be impossible for 3 to get Danger or Cameron. Honestly people to get one of those players we would most likely have to give up someone like Cunners or Ziebell and then some. No matter how good theyve been for us theyve not got anywhere the output that Cameron and Danger have so far

Yes, you do have a point, keeping as injury back up could be useful as we aren't too strong when brown+petrie ruck but I was keeping in mind a fit tarrant and was thinking too many talls in fwd at one time could be a problem (black, petrie, brown, tarrant)
Personally think daw is a better option as a pure back up ruck man. Anyway, think a few players futures depend on free agents and trade period. Nahas has done everything asked of him but don't see him as best 22 next year. It's a cruel industry sometimes but list management requires ruthlessness sometimes.

Serious question. Why do we have so many average built/slow/skinny kpdefenders? Tippett to undergo body recomposition this pre season, 6kg of muscle and 3 kg of fat please
Because key defense requires elite endurance and running capability. Can't afford to be giant beefcakes anymore.

It would be unfair if Nahas doesn't get another opportunity. He was playing well pre his injury with his defensive tackling pressure and goal awareness. I don't think he is a clear cut straight up 22 in the long term, and he'll have to work for it in the short term with guys like Turner performing, but he is easily worth keeping.

I hope this isn't true, good backup if LT goes down or we need another small fwd.
His form has been solid, was good in our wins against Sydney, Freo & Richmond.

I think I saw him at the end of the Essendon game, seemed to be enjoying the win as much as we did :)
Question is how long will we persevere with Harper? How can someone fall from grace like that?
He was so promising in 2011/2012.

Anthony, tazz, Wilkins, McMahon, Harper ( I would think) won't be on the list.

Curran, warren, McGinnis to be cut from the rookie list.

What I'm not sure of is what happens with upgrades like tippet and turner. That means we have to free 5 spots on the senior list as a minimum?

He definitely deserves to stay. He would probably be in the team if he didn't get injured. He's probably on minimum wage and is excellent back up. Spud was in a similar 'do we get rid off him' scenario last year and he's been excellent value this season as a 'back up'.

Curran's not on the rookie list ...
Also Tarrant, McMahon and Harper are contracted for 2015.

TBH not sure that matters and I doubt there's huge money between those three. IF any other Club has an interest and North are looking to off load ( which realistically should be at least one) am sure the contract would be taken over by another Club.

And if no other club is interested not sure why we'd keep them all on?

I think we should probably just draft the full quota of kids this year......

We only have 7 players under 21, included in that are 2 rookies.

We have quite a few mid aged "project" players servicing the depth of the side. Jacobs, Nahas, Anthony, Harper, Hine, Tarrant, Delaney, Currie, Wallace, McMahon, McKenzie, Curran are all at the cross roads for various reasons, which is roughly 25% of the list, which is a ******* huge amount imo, and not easily replaceable in one draft without picking up a heap of garbage.

This is what happens when you run the risk of just retaining guys for depth purposes, sure it's easy to just delist them, but if you have to replace them in one or two drafts, you might be replacing them with guys that are 100th down the pecking order on your draft rankings.

Obviously the likes of McKenzie, Delaney, Jacobs, Tarrant will be retained for the short term, but they are most definately on notice, of which, these guys could seriously be the "phase 2" of this list turnover.

When you couple the fact we might have to replace retiring players in these years, you can probably see why I'm concerned.

We need to start turning over a fair amount this year, purely so we are replacing some players with 3rd and 4th rounders across 3 years, as opposed to Picks 70+

Our list is in solid shape, but not without alot of weeds imo, we struck a bit of gold in the last few years in Wood, Dumont, Turner with later pics, otherwise we'd be looking pretty bad imo.

It's not a case of money that we have a problem with, it's a case list spots and draft picks that are going to be our main obstacle in the next 2 years.

We have some absolute garbage on our list atm, roughly 30% of our list isn't up to Top 8 AFL standard in either conditioning or ability, which is way too high.

The main problem is, hanging on too long in some respects. Project players should be for guys under 22, not many teams in the top 4 have guys on their lists "developing" over this age in their respective state leagues. It's better cutting them loose and trying to uncover another best 22 player in the draft ala a Dumont or Wood.

I heard on the radio this morning that Carlisle would entertain offers from clubs that wanted to play him as a defender. Now I'm not actually sure of the validity of this, but would it be something we should be looking into?

Players over 28 listed bellow. The biggest thing there is our 3 classiest outside runners and our best runner in Gibson. Then our 3 key defenders and our main fwd lol.
Wells -
Firrito -
Dal Santo -
Thompson -
Grima -
Harvey -
Gibson -
Petrie

Answer Priority 1: KPD's to replace Grima and Fritto i think Thompson as the old general is a good idea but neither Grima or Fritto are really top line defenders so the quicker we can turn them over the better. We need to get 1-2 from drafts over next couple years but also need to trade or steal one for now!
Priority 2: Wells, Boomer, Dal Santo, Gibson have 2-3 years to go. Yet we have all our run and class here. Need to recruit outside skillfull mids. I would try target these from other clubs maybe get 1 from other club rest in draft.
Priority 3: Key fwd to replace Petrie. Brown is good but jury's out on how good he can be. Still think he will be a second key fwd. Wood/Black as mid sized. Means we need a real bull key fwd still :)

We should be selling the farm.

We have BIG issues with 200cm marking forwards, and Carlisle is currently one of the best CHB's in the competition now, let alone how much development he has left in him, he's 200cm himself and as shown this year, could be swung forward when needed.

If it came to a trade, every pick would be on the table...

Firrito has 1-2 years left, he's turning 32 next year.
Grima's body isn't exactly reliable.
Hansen isn't a one-on-one defenders asshole, on the likes of Franklin, Tippett, Hawkins, Roughead, Riewoldt etc
