God help him.
He's picked the Cats, so I'm hoping for pick 33. Similar sort of thing that you guys got for the go home 5, and you can draft a handy player around there if you're willing to develop. More than likely we'd trade it for Lumumba though.Completely understandable. Has had a bit of a rough start young Jimmy, hope he comes good
What would you be looking for Mitch Clark?
He took out the optional third year upon drafting, so next season. When does his contract expire?
My mistake, he's 20. Drafted the year before last.Toumpas only 19 ?

He's going home in June - why would trade for a guy going home in the middle of footy season?
No doubt he needs to improve next season. I don't have him in our best 22 if we can get floated deals for Frost, Lumumba, Varcoe and Merrett over the line (motley, I know). Thanks, just looked it up- 21 in three months.
The dude is 19, don't get sucked in by the media or some of our more negative fans.
He's tracking a bit behind where we wanted him, but how stupid would it be to trade a 19 year old pick 4 because he hasn't starred like the guy we were meant to pick up.
I reckon we'd take a trade if it got us something good in return tbh. Difference between the two is that Toumpas really wants to stay and Polec wanted to leave. Good comparison on the field though, both look/ed not quite right.Toumpas is tracking remarkably similar to Polec in his time in Brisbane.
I'm not saying MFC will trade him, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if there is some consideration and that's not necessarily to us BTW.
IMO Merrett is a fool if he goes to the Demons. Surely he can gain some interest from a team in the finals race.
The Lions twitter feed is interesting today:

Some comments from Schwab on trades, including:
And a couple of retweeted pics of Liam Dawson testing at the combine.
- Aish is off the table - it'd be interesting to know if that was a response to a direct question. I hope so.
- Patfull is contracted but we don't have our head in the sand - it sounds like we're considering giving him his trade, at least from that quote
Their's no way Merrett is the type of player for Melbourne to go out of their way to us a high pick. We have a better chance of getting Toumpas or any of their young guys by packaging our second round pick with Merrett.Merrett can play up front and we have a dire lack of experienced forwards - I'd only want to trade Merrett if it somehow involved us getting an early draft pick so we could nab McCartin/Wright in the draft (our early Pick is going to be tied to Beams...). Obviously Merrett for Pick #3 is no-where near enough however...
Do we need another bloody midfielder though? We need a talented KPF...Their's no way Merrett is the type of player for Melbourne to go out of their way to us a high pick. We have a better chance of getting Toumpas or any of their young guys by packaging our second round pick with Merrett.
Yeah but how quickly could that turn into Patfull saying "I've checked things out and now I demand a trade to the Swans/Giants"?Feels to me (and it could be hopeium) that the Patfull quote is saying "he isn't off the table but it would have to be a good offer".

Then it will be us (well, not all of us!) talking up the resume of a departing player and scoffing at unders being offered by his club of choice.
The Patfull situation is really weird. I can't recall a trade scenario like it - where a club/player publicly admits that the player is happy to go or happy to stay and the club isn't really pushing a trade outcome.
It is hard to tell if it is really mature or immature.Yeah but how quickly could that turn into Patfull saying "I've checked things out and now I demand a trade to the Swans/Giants"?

Not to mention that his manager actually used the words "contract extension" in an interview. Still feels like that a very possible end game
If so, the club's "we're keeping an open mind" stance could be calling his manager's bluff a little bit.
