Brisbane football manager Dean Warren has denied a report claiming that the Lions have been shopping Daniel Merrett around to other AFL clubs.

Warren said a newspaper article on Wednesday that said Merrett had been offered up for trade was "not factual".

The Brisbane Lions expect Paddy Ryder to make a decision by the end of the week on whether he will join the club.

Ryder has quit Essendon and will visit Port Adelaide this week before deciding where he will play next season.

Lions chief executive Greg Swann said on Monday he hoped for clarity within days.

Beams requests trade to home state Queensland

COLLINGWOOD midfielder Dayne Beams has dropped a bombshell by requesting a trade to Queensland.

However, the Magpies are determined to retain him.

The club released a statement saying that the 24-year-old wanted to return to Queensland - where he grew up - for "family reasons".
