Average one would be ok though surely? I'm just annoyed that I've finally got a half reasonable team and then bang it's all gone. That's 100 points lost per week
I know. We did talk about it in our PM. I genuinely feel bad for you. And poor old loopy_cam, you supporters don't deserve this at all. I know your feels, trust me, I'm a Crow.

I don't know how I'm going to find anyone to replace Hurley (Stopper + goalkicker) and Bellchambers (tapper). I reached my maximum GTS so losing these two hurts a lot.

I spent the whole off-season trying to get a good ruckman and the best I could get was Vickery. I bought in Johnson as extra cover in Defence and allowed me to take advantage of Hurley's flexibility if I got injuries in my forward kpp spots. Vickery and Johnson now go from being depth to moving into my 18 and my depth in these positions is reduced significantly.

Pears will be gone too, so I'll be 3 down all up.

Top up draft starts at 7:10 tonight and finishes at the first bounce next Thursday night - 24 hour time limits should be enough but I will shrink them if it goes too slowly. If Essendon sign #9 or #10 before then they will be eligible for selection, otherwise they won't be selectable until the pre-season draft.

You have 5 options for each replacement:
1) Delist the player and draft a replacement
At the end of the year the delisted player will be in the draft pool and the replacement will be an uncontracted player for you to bid to retain.
2) Delist the player and promote a rookie
At the end of the year the delisted player will be in the draft pool. The rookie is promoted on the usual rookie promotion contacts, although you don't have to count that in this year's cap. You will be able to get a replacement rookie in the pre-season rookie draft.
3) Keep the player and draft a replacement
At the end of the year you get your original player back and the replacement goes in the draft pool.
4) Keep the player and promote a rookie
At the end of the year you get your original player back and must delist or promote your nominated rookie. You will be able to get a replacement rookie in the pre-season rookie draft.
5) Pass
If you don't take a replacement now, you can use the LTI list later to promote a rookie. You do not get a replacement rookie if you choose this option, and this is the default if you do not pick before the end of the draft.

For options 3 and 4, in the event of a successful appeal, either the original or the replacement player will be suspended for the remainder of the year from that decision. By default this will be the original player, but if you prefer to lose the replacement and get your original player back this year you must post that prior to 7:10 next Thursday. For option 5, there will be no penalty for your player returning earlier than 8 weeks.

Dragon Island have already gained Simpkin as a result of this mess, so he is the automatic replacement for Hocking.

Draft order is based on salaries lost - if you are promoting a rookie you can do that immediately as that doesn't impact anyone else. There are no GST requirements and 2016 salary does not matter.

But Russian, Simpkin was already on my list and being counted in my salary. Why am I disadvantaged when it's only by fluke he was picked up?

Simpkin only got picked up because of the saga, therefore you've gained an extra player. Why should you be advantaged by gaining 2?

Agree.

If Simpkin was on his list already and had to stay on his list to fulfill his contract (even though Simpkin was delisted by his real life club Hawthorn at the end of 2015) therefore occupying a spot, he has still lost Hocking for the year. Hocking should be able to be replaced by another player like every other club is replacing players.

Yeah I see both sides of the story, but Danoz chose to start the season with 1 AFL Listed player less and he will still compete with 1 AFL listed player less this way.

Simpkin is a separate issue. That I signed Simpkin before he was re-signed by Hawthorn is poor management. It is a fluke that I've managed not to have him occupy a spot and not play.

I have Hocking who has been suspended. Every other team who has Essendon players who've been suspended can replace those players. you're saying I can't. That's unfair.

I don't agree to being rewarded for poor list management. In the end, DI have not lost any players

They've lost Hocking. And are one down on their full list of 40 because of the suspension of Essendon players.

Even before the Essendon players were suspended, Jonathan Simpkin was on Dragon Island's list for 2016.

34. Jonathan Simpkin - $121,000 (1)

Lost Hocking, gained Simpkin. That's how I see it. Simpkin would not have played one game for Danoz had Hocking not been suspended. Danoz can have a top up player only if Simpkin is ineligible to play

Simpkin is irrelevant. Put in a rookie's name or some other player who wasn't going to play. I had 40 players on my books. I now have 39. I should be allowed to replace Hocking with someone not on my list as everyone else is allowed to do.

Hocking on 2016 list. Simpkin on 2016 list. As of 19th December 2015.

Hocking suspended on 12 January 2016. Down to 39 on list.

No replacement player.

Adelaide Lions. Michael Hibberd and Angus Monfries on list as at December 19th 2015.

Michael Hibberd and Angus Monfries suspended on 12 January 2016. Down to 38 on list.

Two replacement players.

That doesn't seem fair to me.

I'm assuming GST restrictions still count? I lost a G/S and a T so there's a very real chance I'll be short in key defender and rucks at some stage.

I know this kind of draft is never going to suit everyone, but a player who was signed this year is going to be on a higher salary than someone signed 5 years ago du to the yearly increase in salary caps. Bellchambers, for example, is on the last year of a 5 year $200k which was not as cheap 5 years ago as it is now. If I'd had to match bids on Hurley this off-season his price would be double his current contract. Hurley scored very well last year and as a kpp forward/back is easily one of the most valuable players lost overall but I'll be picking from the dregs here. I'd take Bellchambers over half the players lost as well but I get the second last pick for him. I'd take an average ruckman over an average midfielder every single time.

There's not much I can do about the current situation and accept that, at a quick glance, salary values seems like a fair way of determining the order.
I've been looking forward to seeing who I might get to replace Hurley and Bellchambers, but now that I see this I'm pretty much screwed by this.

Not that he comes close to replacing Hurley, but players like Alipate Carlile (wow, awesome!) weren't drafted. Should undrafted non-rookie players go into the pool too?
With them in the draft pool I still lose out massively, but at least I have someone who has potential to actually replace Hurley at CHB and might find something that resembles a ruck to replace Bellchambers.

How can Simpkin be irrelevant? Because of the Essendon saga, you now have Simpkin available to select

He's irrelevant in terms of list numbers, as Roylion so eloquently puts below.

Because of the Essendon saga, Simpkin will now be able to score Dreamteam points in 2016. He was already on the Dragon Island 2016 list, not as a replacement for Hocking, but in his own right.

Dragon Island should gain a replacement player on their list for Hocking to bring their list to 40 - the same as everyone else.

Sorry guys, I clearly can't make either of you see reason, and as I seem to be arguing from a winning position I won't be going around in these circles anymore

Russian's reasoning would be the same as Marklar's. You get one player and lose one player.

I would have loved to have picked Schoenmakers but as he seems to be ineligible I'll go...

Pick 1. James Kelly

I would also like to keep all three of my players (Watson, Myers and Melksham) for next year.
