Two reasons immediately spring to mind, namely, the conditions yesterday where horrific and would impact the fittest individual, especially when all skill drills had a fitness element to them and secondly, it's still pre-season and it was the first main session after the Christmas break to my knowledge.
This plus the fact that we've never had a huge focus on skills in terms of our drafting and trading until the last two years. The fact is that the majority of our list aren't top notch in this area.

Hannath stepping up this year would be huge for us. At the very least to challenge Clarke.
It sounds like Griff is looking sharper this year too so it's an area where we have an abundance of options. We just need one of them to play more like a true KPF and our deficiency in that area would be closer to being fixed.

JMT posted a few comments about Nyhuis. His kicking is excellent and looks a really good mover on the track. For what it is worth he reminds me a bit of Shane Parker when I look at his highlights and how he moves in training. Really quick and capable of playing on talls and smalls. I spoke to him briefly and he said he was still growing and was now 189cm's. That is significantly bigger than the 181cm he was listed at in some of the draft previews.

Hope you guys don't mind me clarifying, but unsure if you guys knew about Harley's calf.

This has been an ongoing issue for him for nearly two years now. While I'm not aware of the details on the source, but he actually from sciatica down that leg. It can become quite severe on occasion, sometimes (albeit rarely) stopping him from playing.

As it's nerve pain, treatment is a bit more difficult. It's sort of something that he manages as best he can. At the Suns, on occasion his leg felt fine and he could train no problems. Other weeks the pain is so bad he can't train at all. Other times it's okay if it's strapped, etc.

So yeah, not a new issue for him. Something he knows how to manage though and is no doubt doing so to the best of his abilities.

Of course, no problem.

Usually if he's walking around and just kicking the ball a bit it means he's probably under orders to not do much so the nerve can settle. This is very standard for him in preseason though, but it's why I personally think he'll never be a full time midfielder. But as you're all aware, can be a deadly half forward.

During training he came out all guns blazing. He was leading the pack with Walters. Since then he's been with the rehab group.

He has had a compression bandage on his calf since being with the rehab group however was walking laps the other day with a physio and without the bandage.

Do you mean when we first hit the track back in early Dec?

Yes, what this sunny poster is saying is panning out exactly.
His training intensity has eased back significantly to where he is now walking laps bouncing a footy, accompanied by a trainer.
Some sessions he has strapping, others not and his activities are being varied.
DannyTheDoorman spotted him at the club at the time the squad was running the 3km.

With Fyfe and Bennell unlikely to feature heavily in the intraclubs and preseason games, it really does provide an opportunity for Weller, Langdon, Blakely and Hughes to stake their claims. Even more so Crozier who had that cracking intraclub last year prior to an ankle issue and drop in form taking hold.

Hughes and Weller have worked so hard in the off season to get their body's in optimum condition. They look ready to go.

I'm impressed with his leadership credentials.

Only seen him train a few times and don't see the Shane Parker comparison however he does look really good on the track.

Parker comparison is based on the fact at training he looks really quick and in his highlights it looks like he plays on talls and smalls. Shane Parker was one of the most underrated shut down defenders in the afl for a number of years playing on players ranging in size from Mathew Richardson to Phil Matera.
