Does Rance still turn over the ball? I didn't really watch too many Richmond games.

If Crozier decides he wants out (which is likely) can we chuck him as a sweetener? or free agency doesn't work like that.

FA doesn't work that way.

Only if they match the offer and Rance still says he is going to Freo.

But I expect they will want far more than our first pick and Crozier.

They'd take it though i'd think, at that point it almost comes untenable for him to return to the club if he accepts a deal elsewhere.

And if they are to match us $$ for $$ then he isn't coming anyway, i'd imagine its going to take us to pony up an extra 100k at least to get the deal done.

Why would Crozier want out? He has just about established himself in best 22 and seems to enjoy life here.

Everything has been said in this forum before... He's a Melbourne boy with really strong family and social ties. He bought a house in Melbourne with his brother saying it was his future house. Only if Freo's premiership window extends past this year he'll stay IMO. People can be as optimistic as they want but if Rance bought a house in WA what would you think.

If Richmond get FA compo it would be a pick somewhere between 8-15 I would think, depending on where they finish.

If they rejected FA and held out for a trade (potentially with us) and received our 1st round (say 15-20 depending on what other compo picks etc happen) + Crozier, that would be better imo, but only marginally. Not worth the risk for them, but depends where they see their list at year end. A ready made player in Crozier may fit beautifully.

From our point of view I am not 100% happy with that trade. It becomes a bit of a break-even trade + a massive slice of the salary cap in order to entice him over.

There is no way I would give up our 1st pick plus Crozier plus huge $ for rance and I doubt the club would either - he will come as a FA or not at all.

What do you mean 'hold out for a trade'? Has free agency changed recently? If it hasn't, then as a free agent any club can simply sign him up. There are no trade options available to Richmond unless Rance demands to be traded, which makes absolutely no sense if you're Rance. You're just kneecapping whatever club you're going to by stripping them of their first pick.

A club can match the offer on a restricted FA, then it is the same as any player if he doesn't want to sign.

It won't get to that.

Well it hasn't happened yet, mainly because the 2 reasons why a player would leave - money and they don't like their current club - are the blockers in why he hasn't been re-signed already. The current club either can't afford to match the deal or aren't going to want to resign a player that doesn't want to be there.

But the club can't refuse to get involved and demand a trade.

You betch 'em he does.

Fast forward to about 0.40 on the video. While you're waiting for the footage to load, keep saying 700k per year, 700k per year ...
