This draft (I am not sure where kids are rated but thinking that a KPD, KPF, MID And half forwards are our greatest needs)
Next year draft is more of an elite midfield class so cashing in on KPP this year is must.

Pick 1 - KPD Jacob Weitering
Pick 8 - KPF (Weideman, Curnow)
or
Pick 8 - MID (Mathieson, Clarke)
Pick 11 - MID/FWD (Ah Chee,Clarke, Milera)
Pick 19 - FWD/MID (Jade Gresham, Balic)
or
Pick 19 - KPP (Collins)
Pick 59 - SOSOS
I think we need to go with

#1 - Weitering
#8 - Mathieson
#11 - Collins/McKay
#19 - Clarke/Gresham/Oliver
#59 - Silvagni

With the multiple options, the first name is my preference, but if unavailable, then get the next name in line.

Mathieson is a hard nut. He is not afraid to put his head over it and win the ball. Tries to be creative with hand balls, a bit like Cripps. Just the type of mid we should go for, he's a Geelong falcons boy who models his game around Joel Selwood. Strong tackling another highlight. I think we should definitely pick him up if he's available at #8 and Curnow and Weiderman are gone (which is likely t be the case).

Collins will be our FB. Will take pressure of Weitering and we definitely need another quality KPD we can't build our defence around 1 or 2 (with Plowman being the other guy). Those 3 guys can be the foundation for our backline for years to come. Has solid disposal and is very good in one-on-one contests as well.

When is the last time we had more than 1 first round pick?

Would've been '05 with Murphy and Kennedy... not sure if Grigg and Hampson were first or second rounds in their years.

4x first rounders is unheard of at Carlton.

Really doubt he'll slide that far. Players with his traits rarely do.
Dunno. Genuine footballer apparently, but endurance wasn't up to scratch in the combine. These days clubs are looking for athleticism and large tanks, so we may get lucky (I'm a fan of traditional footballers - they have the basic skills!!).

Yeah, I reckon this is where we've gone wrong, drafting athletes more than guys with natural ability.

Rhys will be under a whole different training regime at Carlton than he is at Geelong Falcons. You can work on endurance, you can't work on fighting for the ball, just ask Gibbs.

pick 1 Shache (His a ready made forward with Jaksch and plowman now in defense we need him more and key forwards like him are hard to find).

Pick 8 Milera (going to be an absolute jet silky smooth skills good decision maker at half forward will end up like the Bont)

Pick 11 Mathieson (he will slide this far due to academy and kpp players being needed inside ball machine but does need to work on his running ability and polish witch is why I had Milera ahead of him)

Pick 19 Gresham/Ah chee/Collins (all different players but all with a bright future. Key defender in Collins would be a win but he may not be available and I don't see him worth pick 11 Ah chee will be all class. same with Gresham but the inside mid at 11 worth more).

As a youtube recruiter, may I say

Get McKay!

Harry covers the ground pretty well for a big guy. More coordinated than Hampson, better work ethic than Jones, quicker than Rowe, better mark than Warnock, better kick than Casboult.

For needs, we lack tall forwards having lost Waite, Henderson and Watson and I expect to delist Warnock, Wood, Jones and Rowe within 48 months and Freo wanting to trade for Casboult.

pick 11 might be a reach but I doubt he'll slide to 19. Other forward options (WeedyMan, Burton, Curnow) may be 'better' but the potential to ruck is something we should consider as a package.

Ryan Clarke has a pretty neat highlights package.

The ability to run all day will become gold............and when you can use the ball well also..........
We're going to want players that can turn the jets on in the last quarter of a game.....not only the first two.

Knightmare currently has Clarke in the 20's (make that 30's) but that's likely to change as others start talking about him.

Glad your not recruiting for Carlton. Shache is over rated.
