Weitering is the best young KPP that's come through the draft for sometime.
The last time SOS took a 17yo gun CHB was a player by the name of Jeremy Cameron.
Like Cameron Weitering at 17yo still has a massive amount of development left in him.
He is such a immensely talented footballer, I have very little doubt that he could also play KPF.

Who does your club get with its first pick?

CARLTONPick 1: For most of the year Jacob Weitering has been touted as the likely No.1 draft pick, and there's no reason to think the Blues will shift away from him now. Weitering is a key-defensive beast who is ready to play at the top level. His form never wavered throughout the year and the Blues can settle him into their long-term plans.

Around the mark: Josh Schache, Sam Weideman
Since when did Weideman come into pick #1 calculation?

Seems to be a swell of talk of Milera being taken by GC.
That may just be a blessing for us should that come about..............unless we wanted Milera at that #8, of course.

Weitering is effectively a year younger than Curnow and a lot of other highly touted potential draftees, yet he bosses about with the best of them.

We couldn't possibly overlook Weitering..............we couldn't...........could we?

Glad your not recruiting for Carlton. Shache is over rated.
You think Schache is over-rated? Pffft. That's probably why every recruiter and talent expert in the country on average has him at #2.
I think our #1 Draft pick is very 50/50 when it comes to Weitering and Schache.

Interestingly, he has Francis possibly sliding to Adelaide's first pick. Do you think we would take him at 8 if he was still there? Or do you think SOS would want a forward after taking a key back in Weitering?

We need a general to boss our defence more than we need a tall forward. Weitering is going to be our general in defence. So we struggle for goals next year... But hopefully, with the new defence, we won't leak as many either.

Yeah I do think he is over rated, its my opinion. Seen enough of him to think other players are better.

I don't know and it's possible and sometimes likely, that the clubs themselves aren't 100% set in their order.

At this stage at least, we feel we know what the #1 & #2 will be.
We understand that Melbourne may be wanting Parish at #3 with the view of getting Curnow @ #7.......but that may have to change
Essendon have the enviable, back to back selections with #4 & #5. They may be after a KPF and a mid so if Parish is gone, then Weideman & Francis?

If GC do take Milera as some are suggesting, then any of the pre-mentioned sliders could end up at us with the #8.......or maybe we have someone else in mind regardless...............I don't know.

If we don't pick up Weitering at 1 i will shake my fist in anger at SOS as I'm driving by Princes Park. I'll all about the big threats.

Milera seems a Clayton special. He likes his soft outside types.

If Francis is there at 8 I'll buy SOS a pack of Depends. He'll probably wet himself.

As a youtube recruiter, may I say

Get McKay!

Harry covers the ground pretty well for a big guy. More coordinated than Hampson, better work ethic than Jones, quicker than Rowe, better mark than Warnock, better kick than Casboult.

For needs, we lack tall forwards having lost Waite, Henderson and Watson and I expect to delist Warnock, Wood, Jones and Rowe within 48 months and Freo wanting to trade for Casboult.

pick 11 might be a reach but I doubt he'll slide to 19. Other forward options (WeedyMan, Burton, Curnow) may be 'better' but the potential to ruck is something we should consider as a package.
Looks like he has plenty of upside and I think he might be the youngest of the available top picks, too. Could be worth even pick 8? As for a small, I really like the look of Gresham.

1. Weitering
8. (11 after academy picks) Mathieson unless Francis or Curnow slide
11. (14 after academy picks) Harry McKay unless Weidemann is a huge slider to 8.
19. (23ish) Gresham or a slider like Ah Chee.

KPD, KPF, inside mid, inside-outside mid/small forward

Ah Chee? Not convinced at pick 19. Would prefer Gresham. :)

I do like his older brother at Power and if he can bring the same freakish impact to a contest then well and good.

But on the highlights video I saw (against SA, I think), his disposal under pressure looked rushed and untidy. Maybe he just had a bad day!

I'd be comfortable about taking him at pick 30 onwards but I think we really have to strive for workhorses rather than 'silk' - didn't we get rid of Menzel and Yarran?

Reckon the GWS 4 and Kedge are a very good chance to start round 1. (with Phillips being the one who may not depending on what kind of ruck and forward division we take)... on that note... teams may play two rucks now that the sub rule is gone.

I think Ah Chee will be gone anyway. Just want a smaller pacy forward who can maybe do a midfield rotation but that's probably Sumner if he comes right.

Lets just hope SOS takes the obvious picks and doesn't try to be a hero.

Our recruiting department was already under resourced before Rogers left, so now we are a man down and under resourced heading into a draft with four picks in the top 20.

i think Bolton will be keen to try out Phillips. Kreuzer can work in tandem but Wood isn't a great partner.

Matty will be given more forward duties with Hendo gone.

You could reach 10 spots and make a good decision. Cripps is living proof of that.

I really hope people don't look at every pick and go 'why would you pick x if y is still there?' The only reason to do that is if a rated tall forward is still there and we haven't nabbed one yet. Weidemann at 8, McKay at 11 possibly.

I don't think too many teams are kicking themselves that Laverde fell from 6 to 20 last year.

I'm not an avid watcher of the underage games or draft guru, but from what i've seen, read and heard and what I know of our list (well let's be honest, holes everywhere) I would like us to go somewhere like this ideally...

Pick 1: Weitering. Probably picks himself really. Done deal.

Pick 8: Weideman. Think he has more tools than even Schache, who is think while being dominant at junior level is quite one dimensional. Lovely kick, good size and athleticism. Might struggle to make it to pick to pick 8 but is a somewhat unknown on exposed form with his injuries. Fingers crossed. Curnow another who would be good here but could too be gone.

Pick 19/20/21: Firstly I'd love to see Ah Chee last to here, gives us a bit of a Rioli type (sorry, Hawthorn player comparisons don't end here) and has time to develop as a finish/polish player we will need as our list grows, especially given Menzel and Yarran departures. Clayton Oliver is another I'd like here, has a bit of Jordan Lewis about him and you can never have too many of them. Come on like a bolt and has a rugged style and build. Good country lad ;) Gresham here too to give us some midfield polish, run and good skills would be delicious as well. However if we go Curnow at 8, feel McKay might be the right way to go instead of one of these boys to get another big in.

SOSOS to obviously round us out at the draft and develop in the Gunstan/Lynch mould.

Maybe we snap up Andrew Moore as a DFA/PSD?
