I said well over a month ago we gotta trade Murphy Gibbs ect and people thought I had lost the plot. Well I would still trade them and get as many picks in top 20 as possible!!!!

We definately need Weitering who is being touted as the early number 1 pick. Key Position Defender who can also go into the midfield. Would sure up a key defensive post we desperately need.

Our next pick best available, i would definately place an emphasis on leadership and will to win high on the agenda
Add in the fact that Weitering appears ready to go from the start.

If we can manage to get a couple more first round picks...

One of these guys would be nice. All quick tall forwards.
Sam Weideman - 196cm, 91kg
Josh Schache - 199cm/96kg
Harry McKay - 200cm/85kg

And one of these guys
Rhys Mathieson - 185cm/79kg (just forgive him his name ok)
Ben Keays - 185cm/81kg
Matthew Kennedy - 187cm/84kg <- wouldnt mind getting this kid either... but he is in the Giants academy... so they get first shot!

And then on top of that... we have the chance to get Bailey Rice as a F/S... if he picks us. And we also have Jack Silvagni coming through. He isnt going to rate on anyones top 20 pick because... well everyone with half a brain knows that he will end up at Carlton eventually!

We have to build from the back and start developing a spine. We do that by picking Jacob Weitering. We also try and trade our way to get Josh Schache.

If we are going to rebuild through the draft, let's try and emulate Hawthorn. The above two guys are our Roughead/Franklin combo. These guys will naturally take a few years to develop, in which case by then we pick our midfield (assuming we finish bottom 4 over the next 4 years).

Weitering and Schache are the two players we need and the easiest way to get them would be for kreuzer to walk as a free agent. We will also need to finish last cause I think Brisbane would take weitering with pick one.

Weitering does look like someone we desperately need. Would certainly have him near the top of my list.

I would just like to see us find some genuine talent past the first round for once. Our team yesterday had only 1 player drafted by Carlton in the ND past round 1 (Dennis Armfield). Having early picks won't matter if we always miss the Parker's (pick 40 2010), Hannebery's (pick 30 2008), Fyfe's (pick 20 2009) and Neale's (pick 58 2011). Good recruiters >> having high picks.

After yesterdays performance I think that we should really just try to gun for 4 picks in the top 20. If Hendo wants to go then play hardball and try and get a top ten pick for him and put Yarran on the table. He's the type of player that we desperately need but after yesterdays performance we just need to start from scratch unfortunately.

So, looking to the draft, from what I've seen and discussed the players that I would love to land with say picks 1,8,15 and 20 are Weitering, Tucker, Fiorini, Gresham or Schache/ Mckay. I'm confident that there will be some pretty good talent in the top 20. Other players that would be nice are Balic, Clarke or Partington. another player to look out for is Keiren Lovell from Tasy. Heard some good things about him and am keen to see him play in the Champs.

These are two of the very few I would consider untradable (along with Cripps, Menz, Doc and Bell). Hendo as he really is our only half decent tall, and Yarran for his speed, skill and lately, aggression. Both are still young and if we get back up, would be well and truly still in the team. I'd look at trading older players (Murphy, Gibbs, Walker, Jamo etc) or those closer to the fringe (pretty much the rest of the team).

Need to copy St Kilda's model and get as many picks as possible in the top 20.

It's very likely we could end up with pick 1, and almost certain we'll be in the top 3 in any case.

I don't know anything about the kids every year, just pick a ****ing big bloke please.

I'd draft a board that doesn't play politics but have the good of the club at heart.

Not just the, "Of course we have to be good because being bad makes me look bad" type board, but the board that works as hard as the football department and contribute to making the place one that players, coaches, boot-studders want to come to.

Everything is going to plan.. Lions are going to beat Port.. We are going to finish below them and tell them we are taking Keays.. Unless they let Aish walk into pre season draft.. Which by the looks of things we will have the first pick in..

We then take either JW or Darcy Tucker. Hopefully one of AhCee or Francis get through to our next pick.

Should we build a midfield or get our bookends ready first?

It's hard to gauge where we are at currently with our young players so ****ing inexperienced. We hardly have any youngsters looking as if they're 100% capable of being AFL standard players. Cripps and Docherty are the exceptions.

Menzel, Jaksch, Buckley and Graham should play atleast 90% of games for the rest of the season. The rest of the youngsters... Whiley, Boekhurst, Holman, DVR, Smith and Bryne should be played in games of three. With only maybe two or three playing together.

Whilst this will still be playing the kids... we'll still have the older more experienced fringe players such as Carrots, Curnow, etc. preventing us from getting destroyed every game. Hopefully it'll allow a smoother transition instead of all together.

GWS also recruited Callan Ward, Chad Cornes, James McDonald, Luke Power and later big Mummy to teach the young boys what it really takes to be successful.

We can have all the high draft picks you like and could still end up like Melbourne (and seemingly Gold Coast) if we don't have the right leaders in the playing group.

Note the old saying - "Be careful what you wish for"

Based off a possible bottom 2 finish this year, we'll be getting 2 picks in the top 20. Trade in at least one more pick in the top 20 (for Yarran, Gibbs or Hendo) and I think it'll be a good start, considering at least one of the two later picks in the first round will probably be used on Rice at this stage.

IMO we should look at drafting KPP and rucks they take longer to develop and are harder to trade for. Jaksch is our only really good tall. Watson and casboult are average at best but I still have hope that they can become good footballers. Giles is injury prone. Foster and fields its to early to tell. If we let kreuzer walk as a free agent we should go into with pick one and two and pick up Weitering and Schache.

At this point in time looks like we'll have the number 1 pick. And bar any compensation the number 19... and the gold that is also the the number one Pre Season draft pick. They keep telling us we need to get 3 top 20 picks... well the above is better... Number 1 get the best KPD kid in the draft... Number 1 PSD pick I'm sure there's a few GWS and GCS players coming out of contract and I wouldn't be surprised if SOS already has one in the bag. Pick 19 could be used in a trade with another player to get perhaps a better pick... and it also depends on our father and sons.. if SOSOS improves and looks the goods we have another KPP to consider there.

Rookie Draft do we look at mids or perhaps a ruck?
