Emma Q responded to a question about who she thought was the slider atm and who might be there for us at 8.

She said Weideman is the best bet from her recent info but Parish a rough chance to slide as well (perhaps ala Aish a few years back).

Getting excited...
imagine if Parish gets to 8!! did she also say Parish did not interview well?

Just had a look, geez kid can play... Won't be there at 8, hearing curnow to carlton
So good if true!

Maybe it's just because we have 3 picks in the top 11 but this draft is so exciting. It sounds like it could be any two of Francis, Curnow, Weideman, McKay, Oliver, Burton, or Milera at 8 and 11. At 19 there should still be some good young kids too... Gresham, Collins, Hibberd, or Mathieson.

In the brief bit of the highlights he also has a bit of Roughy about him in the way he moves. Looks a bit of a 'lumberer' but seems to have good ground skills.

Does he have a bit of mongrel in him ??
That's another good comparison - left footer too. Crazy to think he's the same size as Kreuzer, who's considered athletic for his size.

The perfect draft for me would be

1. Weitering
8. McKay
11. Milera
19. Gresham

Didn't say, no. In the videos on the afl site he comes across as a bit of a larakin so maybe he wasn't as professional? Still, wouldn't had to seriously tank to drop out of the top 10 (after academy picks) to our first.

How cool is it that Weitering is such a lock for first pick that we quite often just forget about pick 1!

Not mad keen in Weideman or Curnow...that's based on absolutely nothing though. Ideally Francis or Oliver at 8...though Oliver does have that punchable head thing going on. Happy to be surprised at 11 and 19.

Thanks for going the extra mile LA !
At the very least, he's an instant replacement for Menzel

Did I hear the commentator correctly at the start in saying he'd had time out due to a procedure on his heart? I'm sure it's been corrected or he wouldn't be in draft discussions, but hope everything's ok for him long term.

You got me! I think you're spot on. My subconscious is so conditioned to JW going at 1, our first 'surprise' pick i.e. we don't know who it'll be - will come at 8.
1. Weitering
8. Parish
11. Weideman
19. Gresham

C4 if Parish and Weids both slide, I'll send such feelings of jubilation* around the house that my wife and family will wonder what's happened.

*Jubilation that may also sound like a loud scream.

In all honesty, all it would take would for Milera, Oliver and another bolter to occur (McKay for example) for this to happen. Just imagine...

1. Weitering
2. Schache
3. Mills
4. Hopper
5. Curnow
6. Francis
7. Kennedy
8. Oliver
9. McKay
10. Milera
11. Parish
12. Burton
13. Hipwood
14. Weideman

Pipe dream? Stranger things have happened.

It was a minor issue that they picked up as part of the medical screening (can't remember the name of the condition). I'm not a doctor, but am I right in assuming that it should improve his running ability?? It had something to do with his heart beating too fast.

Did she happen by any chance say who comes into the top 8 to displace Parish??

M.Turner this morning said Parish is a bit like Joel Selwood. Personally I cannot see the resemblance.
Remember, Turner is the one who said (at the time of drafting) Lachie Henderson has Captain written all over him.

Probably Burton and Oliver.

Weit, Schache, Curnow, Oliver, Burton, Milera, Francis, PARISH, ???, WEID

Though this is highly unlikely IMO
Oliver, Burton, Milera, McKay - 3 of these would have to go before our pick
I am not as big a fan of Parish as some, but do acknowledge we need more mids and he can certainly rack em up. Could do worse than get Parish to the club. Arguably safer than taking a tall, esp given Weideman and Burton have injury clouds over them.

Weitering
Parish
Collins

The above would OK for our top 3 picks

And then trade Levi to Freo for another R1 pick next year to use on a gun mid/Tomlinson?
He would have to improve bec reading btw lines he was offered up this year and wasn't worth a first round pick.
At 25 I am not sure he has that much improvement left in him, certainly some but maybe not a great deal given he isn't terribly quick.
