Is it just me, or would others feel more comfortable if we drafted a stable full of Vics?
Only if they are best available, how many non Vic kids have we lost due to go home factor? I don't want us to miss out on a Cripps because he is not from Victoria. If someone like Burton who has stated he would prefer to go to Melbourne, the "home of football" as he called it, than stay in Adelaide, is the next on our list I don't want us taking the lesser player due to his state of origin.

You got me! I think you're spot on. My subconscious is so conditioned to JW going at 1, our first 'surprise' pick i.e. we don't know who it'll be - will come at 8.

C4 if Parish and Weids both slide, I'll send such feelings of jubilation* around the house that my wife and family will wonder what's happened.

*Jubilation that may also sound like a loud scream.

In all honesty, all it would take would for Milera, Oliver and another bolter to occur (McKay for example) for this to happen. Just imagine...

1. Weitering
2. Schache
3. Mills
4. Hopper
5. Curnow
6. Francis
7. Kennedy
8. Oliver
9. McKay
10. Milera
11. Parish
12. Burton
13. Hipwood
14. Weideman

Pipe dream? Stranger things have happened.
I would prefer

1. Weitering
2. Schache
3. Mills
4. Hopper
5. Curnow
6. Burton
7. Kennedy
8. Oliver
9. McKay
10. Milera
11. Francis
12. Weideman
13. Hipwood
14. Parish

weitering, francis + parish! :)

General consensus seems to be that SOS is a huge fan of Weideman. I just don't see there would be any way he would select anybody else above him at that selection (unless ankle test from medical came back bad)

he might be a fan but he could also be a bigger fan of francis ;)

Imo weideman comes down to the medical testing -> he didn't do that well in wednesday's tests (whereas burton did - hence I've moved burton up the list)

I believe Gregory Clark is available in this year's draft and could go between 30-50 or slide to the rookie draft.

I'd like to see him get a crack at our first pick in the RD and keep the space in our senior list.
Oh really? Sorry I thought the article was saying he was next year. Geez Perth news do know how to hype the West Aussies, made it seem like he was a number one pick next year. Although its to be expected, WA news does love a local boy hype up - ala Shaun Marsh who you'd think is the next coming if you read the West

Hmmn, well i like the look of him, pity we dont have a pick in the 30-50 range, maybe he'll slide all the way to 60

Did I hear the commentator correctly at the start in saying he'd had time out due to a procedure on his heart? I'm sure it's been corrected or he wouldn't be in draft discussions, but hope everything's ok for him long term.
Hope he had a better doctor than Yaz/Hendo!!!

It's the same here in Adelaide, especially with the Crows. Before this year it was all Patrick Dangerfield is the greatest player ever ... yada yada yada. Then it was meltdown halfway through the year when it looked like he was going to leave. Now that he has left its all ... He was good he is not a big loss. Tex and Sloane are better. Tex Tex Tex yada yada yada!!

At least you get news about AFL down there... we rarely hear about Suns or AFL among the league and other drama going on. When we do though, Gazza gets a good wrap as well as a few of the other kids... but not nearly as much as they should. Probably a positive in their eyes.

If somehow the stars align and we have a dream draft of Weitering, Parish, Weideman and say Gresham at 19 our list would be set up very nice.

FB: Tuohy, Jamison, WEITERING
HB: Docherty, Rowe, Simpson
C: Murphy, Gibbs, Graham
HF: Lamb, Jaksch, Kerridge
FF: Everitt, Casboult, Walker
R: Kreuzer, Cripps, Curnow
IC: Thomas, Boekhorst, Buckley, Byrne

FB: Dick, White, Sheehan
HB: Gowers, Plowman, Rainbow
C: Sumner, PARISH, GRESHAM
HF: Armfield, WEIDEMAN, Tutt
FF: Gorringe, Jones, Foster
R: Phillips, Whiley, HOLMAN*
IC: Smith, SILVAGNI, Wood, Korcheck + 2 more rookies

Probably still looks as good with Weitering, McKay, Gresham, Dunkley

M.Turner this morning said Parish is a bit like Joel Selwood. Personally I cannot see the resemblance.
Remember, Turner is the one who said (at the time of drafting) Lachie Henderson has Captain written all over him.
Michael Turner would sit comfortably in the PR department at the UFC !!
Every year it's the same from him , the Falcons boys are the greatest thing since sliced bread !!

I call BS.

You don't trade from pick 6 to pick 3 (especially in a draft where top 2 seem locked in) unless you have a specific player just about locked in.

I have no insider knowledge, but drums beating loudly that they want parish. I'd be surprised if they pick anyone else at 3.
The Demons have made no secret that they're chasing another key forward to work in tandem with Hogan. Along with Schache & Weitering I think Hipwood has the most potential of all the talls in this draft. If they put in a bid at 3 for Hipwood it will almost use up all the Lions points if they choose to match it. This would have potential to make players such as Ben Keays and Corey Wagner live picks depending where others recruiters decide what their bid value is worth and how far the Lions are prepared/allowed to go into deficit because they'd only have 360 points left (help Blue Balls). GCS have made it very clear that they're in the market for an inside midfielder and Ben Keays all of a sudden has mega appeal, because there won't be the go home factor that may occur with an Oliver or Parish for example. It has the potential dramatically alter who may be available at our 2nd & 3rd picks.

Has SOS given any hint on his drafting strategy?
Lets hope he has one because I don't wanna see 85% of all our games for the next 10 years played inside our defensive 50.

It was a condition that has an extra nervous pathway to the heart that scrambles the electrical impulses governing its beat. Easily fixed, don't think he missed more than one game if any. My old man had the same, bolted straight out of hospital on a hot day to look after his tomatoes.

They hyped Cripps and there was a lot of tut-tutting from this board and others when we picked him.

Milera played the final game of the season against Glenelg in the Seniors...kicked 5 Goals...then found out about the heart issue...went in and had keyhole surgery...and came out and kicked 3 Goals in a senior SANFL Final.

Think it shows the kid is strong mentally and has, pardon the pun, plenty of heart.

I reckon he'll be gone by our Pick 8.

I would maybe prefer others for Carlton at 8 at our very beginning of a rebuild. But for Essendon, Melb and GC, i'd be all over him like a cheap suit.

Serious player.
