Did I hear the commentator correctly at the start in saying he'd had time out due to a procedure on his heart? I'm sure it's been corrected or he wouldn't be in draft discussions, but hope everything's ok for him long term.
I had a similar procedure. I think he had a condition called wolf Parkinson white or something but essentially there's a tiny extra pathway in the heart and they burn it out during an ablation. Once it's fixed its fixed and is a non issue.

Not mad keen in Weideman or Curnow...that's based on absolutely nothing though. Ideally Francis or Oliver at 8...though Oliver does have that punchable head thing going on. Happy to be surprised at 11 and 19.
I'm the same Kramer, not that keen on Curnow. Hope Melbourne or Essendon take him which would help a Francis or Oliver slide to 8.

Would we be happy with Weitering, H McKay and Collins with our first three picks? That would give us some seriously talented tall timber. Then we could aim for a sliding mid at 19.

So over on Reddit /r/AFL they've had a phantom draft going today.

1 1 Carlton Jacob Weitering 3000
1 2 Brisbane Josh Schache 2517
1 3 Sydney Callum Mills Academy 1787
1 4 Melbourne Darcy Parish 2034
1 5 Essendon Charlie Curnow 1878
1 6 GWS Jacob Hopper Academy 1401
1 7 Essendon Clayton Oliver 1644
1 8 Gold Coast Sam Weideman 1551
1 9 GWS Matthew Kennedy Academy 1175
1 10 Melbourne Aaron Francis 1395
1 11 Carlton Ryan Burton 1329
1 12 Brisbane Eric Hipwood Academy 1268
1 13 Brisbane Ben Keays Academy 1212

1 14 Adelaide Wayne Milera 1161
1 15 Carlton Harry McKay 1112
1 16 Richmond Callum Ah Chee 1067
1 17 Adelaide Kieran Collins 1025
1 18 St Kilda Rhys Mathieson 985
1 19 Hawthorn Mitchell Hibberd 948
2 20 Gold Coast Jade Gresham 912
2 21 North Melbourne Harley Balic 878
2 22 Hawthorn Darcy Tucker 845
2 23 St Kilda Bailey Rice Father-Son 815
2 24 Carlton Riley Bonner 785

If it panned out that way I'd be absolutely ecstatic. Thoughts?

If Carlton forced the Saints hand with Bailey Rice they'd suffer a deficit into next year.

I'd be stoked with that. We get:
*The best player.
*Arguably the best lead up forward.
*The most promising CHF
*Gun outside mid/flanker with kicking skill.

Weideman in a full game. Also great to see Weitering, but Weideman is amazing in this game.

I think that top ten is spot on regardless of the order.

Weitering, Burton, McKay and Bonner would be a great start to the rebuild. We could then take some classy midfielders to build around Cripps over the next couple drafts.

Yep. The vimeo page belongs to one of our past recruiters. He quit after the Cripps draft if you recall.
Did he quit because he felt that they were always going to go with West Australians?

I know a couple of our recruiters felt that way at the time.

Would you guys bid on Mills at 1? Really interesting scenario where you'd rather have Weitering obviously, but Sydney really can't not match - they would much rather have Mills than all those picks in the 40s.
Would put them into points deficit, and push all their other picks to the end of the draft.

Anyway, interesting scenario.

It's just a nice game theory scenario.

Rationally, Sydney have to match. Rationally Carlton should then bid. They won't - because that would be a campaignerish thing to do. But it's an interesting example of behaviour in competitive games.

It's pretty simply really .......

Pick 1 - player no: ........ J. Weitering

Any inside word from school footy?

Scotch College have been hiding away a couple of smokeys in Tom Anderson (Chargers) and Didymus Blanket (Gold Coast).

Diddy would make a great tagger or maybe an indigenous hip-hop artist. ;)
Blanket rookie at best. Needs to work on his demeanor as he apparently cracks the sheets easily. Has most covered on talent though as his best is electric..
